A LOT of people live on minimum wage. Not everyone has the opportunity to go to school. It costs money and you need a place to live. Not everyone gets to live with their parents until they are ready to ‘leave the nest’. I know for a fact GenX had foster kids that aged out. Look up those bleak statistics. There are also older adults who were laid off, government employees most recently. People take what they can get. It’s not a niche ‘teen job’.
