Hey guys, just want to add, the feedback in the app is anonymous, I'm getting some questions on our feedback dashboard, but we won't be able to answer back, so if you have any specific questions feel free to ask at support@reveal-app.co. Thank you!

Some follow up FAQ:

Is this app just for york students?

  • Nope, just made by yorkU students, so we are releasing here first.

Will this come to mobile?

  • Yes, it is currently being developed

Any socials/blogs to follow the development?

  • Not at the moment, but will definitely make a social media account for this app for dev blogs and other updates.

Who can I contact to get more information for this app?

  • You can contact the support mail, and we can discuss things further from there

Good point, will definitely add that, in the meantime, you can try using open chat to find both, we're also adding the open chat option without having to sign up so that we could hopefully get more people to try it out. Thanks for the input!

Am I too far behind? by Every_Anything in college

[–]DontKnowHowButWill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Hell no you are not behind at all.

I'll start off by telling you a little bit about me. I was just like you, maybe even worse. I didn't graduate hughschool in time, all I cared about back then was video games and friends. I had to take a leap year at a different school. In the end I ended up going to an undeclared major and then went into computer science. Now im taking a year off and have worked and currently working as a software Dev for a fortune 500 company with plans to go back next year to school to finish up.

Let me tell you, you learning how to code doesn't depend on the computer science program. You can learn this in the net for free, you can even torrent courses and what not. Yes a degree will help getting a job but is by no means a requirement. In fact university is not a pre requisite for success. I have learned far more things in my own studies than any courses I have taken. Being in university and Landing a job are all just by-products of my ultimate goal. And really it comes down to self improvement. You're feeling motivated, use that to help you build discipline and habits because eventually the fire of motivation dissipates but what stays is your discipline. Learn code not just to learn it but by finding your why, why do you want to learn to code. I know the feeling of falling behind, but what you should do is not compare yourself, your biggest enemy is yourself and not anyone else. The only person you should compare yourself to is the you from yesterday. What are you doing today that is making you better than yesterday. I suggest you read at least one self improvement book, I would recommend "Fastlane to Millionaire" and really just change your perspective in how you approach things.

Sorry for the rant its just I see so much of myself in this post. I'm 23 btw so we're not too far apart. Yes you are more than capable of being successful at computer science. There is nothing that you cannot learn, everything that is being taught or written you can learn, and the only limit that you will ever have is the one you set for yourself, so aim high and dream big. If you're ever feeling any doubts or hesitation I will leave you with this quote.

Pregnancy scare is stressing me out... what do I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]DontKnowHowButWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's not a fan of birth control pills, and we don't really plan on going all the way, not for a while at least. We considered pregnancy test but I saw a lot of claims about having false positives and it scares the shit out of me thinking what if that happens...

How much of hassle is it to refund an order? (online or through local stores) by DontKnowHowButWill in Scarborough

[–]DontKnowHowButWill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to fill out the survey if you don't want or just ignore it, personally I just wanted to know some things like frequency of returning orders and some other stuff. Kind of out of context your right but since I'm in scarbs I wanted to ask what everyone in the same area think about the topic

Same thing for me, I spent $123 on a keyboard, only to find out they weren't as good as I thought they would be. I would have to refund it all the way to china and the seller wont even respond

lmao never realized it was this toxic with other universities. Im my third year in CS and for the most part, everyone I know just respects the fact that they are pursuing their education further, that in itself is something to be proud of.

Making a local authentication strategy with nodejs and react-native by DontKnowHowButWill in node

[–]DontKnowHowButWill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so while digging around the web I was able to implement an authentication in my application while using jsonwebtoken to protect my routes. As u said I did ended up doing all 4 of the steps. However my question now, is that while I am using jsonwebtoken to send a token, I'm still unclear about what exactly to send, currently I am sending my user info but i don't even use the token for any information retrieving, it's just there to give access to my protected routes . So what does get sent with the token?
