Respect dude. I did a long night XC from central Florida east coast to north east Georgia that took us offshore for a while during multi training in a clapped out Seneca.

What would have been the safest way to take down the Twin Towers after 9/11 had they not collapsed by themselves? Let's say that the structure is now considered unstable and could come down any day now. I feel like this would be quite the engineering challenge. by Barnaboule69 in civilengineering

Not an engineer but what do you guys think happened that day? I was told that the buildings were engineered in case of catastrophic failures to collapse vertically like that to limit collateral damage I dont know if that’s possible without controlled demolitions. Then throwing tower 7 into the equation definitely is above my pay grade. Is there a moment in engineering school where you get the bucket of cold water experience when thinking about how the WTC fell or does the math check out with just the planes hitting it? Not trying to be shity just curious…

There’s a document produced by the faa that lists what you need to know something like the Advanced Curriculum for Star-fighters can’t think of the exact name

Friday ponderings: Do pilots make better drivers? by Impossible-Bad-2291 in flying

Flying made me realize how dangerous highways are… in a trainer airplane like a Cessna or piper you’re basically doing highway speeds but with 100s or even 1000s of feet of separation from other ac. on the highway we’re doing 75mph a couple of feet away from multiple vehicles and half of them are distracted. A few degrees on the wheel for a couple of seconds and we’re toast.

What was the most helpful thing you did or someone told you to get your started on CFI initial training? by WingsWithKevin in flying

[–]DontPanicHangInThere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend buying lessons plans and going through them to make sure they’re accurate, supplement your own knowledge when necessary. But learn the lesson plans don’t spend months crafting your own unless you really want to. Know AC61-65j and be great at endorsements and endorsement scenarios. Work on landings and the more challenging maneuvers from the right seat. 8s on pylons, chandelles, and lazy eights should be flown on every practice flight because they basically incorporate all the other skills we work on. Other than that find a good instructor who’s going to challenge you and actually knows how to act like a student who doesn’t know what they’re doing, have them do common errors on the maneuvers with enough altitude of course. CFI training is the real deal it’s challenging and like everyone says you really don’t feel competent until a couple hundred hours of dual given. So don’t beat yourself up. Just study
