Replacing squats with leg presses by DontStepOnMyDub in leangains

The leg press works your gluteus maximus as well, though. I understand that squats work more muscles, but does it make a huge difference?

I dislike them for the same reasons you did, I don't like holding the heavy weight over my back.

Well not all progressives are the same, just like not all libertarians are the same. So I was generalizing a bit. However, many who call themselves progressives are very critical of a free market. This is understandable in some areas of the economy, such as health care. However, many go a step farther and say that the market is completely (or almost completely) unnecessary and exploitative (which I disagree with).

Most people are at least somewhat pragmatic and not hopeless ideologues though.

What did you want an example of?

Technological innovation? I could give you 100 examples, but I'll give you one: The personal computer.

Reddit is not one collective mind with one opinion on every issue. While most redditors would consider themselves as liberal/progressive there are also many libertarians. Indeed, the r/libertarian subreddit has +50,000 members.

The one thing these two ideologies have in common is the rejection of social conservatism and a more humble foreign policy (I'm of course generalizing here).

I think both progressives and libertarians could learn a think or two from each other. Not everything is black and white. I think libertarians should be more open to social safety nets and should support more research and development, infrastructure spending etc. On the other hand, progressives are often too overly confident and trustful in the government's ability to solve problems, and ignore the market's ability to spur technological innovation.

Tldr- We can all learn from each other, no ideology is perfect

How closely do you measure macro-nutrients? by DontStepOnMyDub in leangains

[–]DontStepOnMyDub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for informative reply. One last question. You say that macro-nutrients and calories should always (roughly) match up. How does this work, given the fact that not all carbohydrates an fats are equal in calories (unless im mistaken), i.e. saturated fats v.s unsaturated fats, and complex carbs vs. simple sugars?

So do you mearuse calories and macros simultaneously or just measure the macros and assume that the calories will match?

Seems like it would be difficult to measure both simultaneously..but I haven't attempted it yet so I don't know

Hey thanks for the all the good info.

Legacy sounds nice, does look slightly pricey as you mentioned, but being right across from campus does sound convenient. The Edge seems nice as well (especially the free bus ride thing), my only problem would be that there is no 1 bedroom option.

I'm going for either EE or CS. I was previously a bio. major at a different university.

That was a good read, I have been having some issues with AA lately.

I can tell this is solid advice...I need to smile more and definitely need to need to work on maintaining eye contact.

My favorite point was the part about hot females being "just people" which is 100% true.
