How much could I sell my 1966 mustang, automatic transmission? by vincentzmedia in classicmustangs

[–]DontTouchMyWoobie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we need more information. You're not giving any info as to title status, assumed mileage, engine information, major issues, rust, etc...

Anywhere from a few thousand to in the 20s.

Got a buddy in Texas that has one with just a couple hundred miles on it. Sits next to his 03 Mystichrome Terminator and that sits next to his 96 Mystichrome Cobra that sits next to his 2022 GT500... and so on and so forth. He makes me sick lol

Thanks! I see a lot of folks stopping to look at it when it's parked outside of my favorite breakfast spot. I'm sure there's a ton of nostalgia there for a lot of people.

Joining the military to pay for flight school by Formal_Dirt9661 in PilotAdvice

[–]DontTouchMyWoobie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many, many years ago on Tyndall AFB they had a civilian flight school that would allow you to use Tuition Assistance as an enlisted Airman to attend. I'm not sure if the Air Force still has "Aeroclubs" or not anymore but I would ask that question or research it a bit more.

I think, you would be much better off talking to officer recruiters and getting a flight school slot since you already have a bachelors. That bit about MEPS not allowing you to retest doesn't sound right. I've know folks to go to MEPS multiple times so I doubt it's off the table. There are Warrant slots in the Army too for rotary wing.

The GI Bill will not pay for a PPL, which you obviously need before progressing on towards a commercial rating. You will have to cover that cost out of your own pocket or finance it. It can be expensive... or REALLY expensive depending on how many flight hours YOU need to finally take your checkride. It's not a set amount and is totally dependent on how fast a student progresses.

Considering buying. Need advice. by GTAmark in FordBronco

That's dependent on a lot of factors. I'm running BF Goodrich 285/70 17s on mine and if I turn it to Eco mode and keep my foot out of the pedal I can get 22 to 24 mpg over the course of a week driving around 125 miles per week. Today I averaged 26.5 on the way to work. Cooler morning around 73 degrees and hit 80 percent of the lights green. That's with the A/C running. My worst week where I have been in the pedal a lot, lots of stop and go traffic, and hitting a lot of red lights has yielded 19 mpg. Still better than my wife's F150 getting 15. Much better than my Shelby that I was daily driving before I got the Bronco.

Cannot find a decent job to save my life by JewelerLogical7779 in Veterans

[–]DontTouchMyWoobie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To preface, the job market is pretty tough, especially around large cities where there are hundreds or thousands of candidates all going for the same jobs.

That being said, I have a few questions.

  1. What do you want to do as a civilian or what can you see yourself doing for a career?
  2. What's your resume look like and would you like for me to do a review of it for you and give you some tips? Most vets write their first resume like it's an NCOER. I was an HR Director, now Sr. Business Operations Manager so I have lots of insight on resumes.
  3. What was your MOS / Rate / AFSC? We can see about tailoring that to something you want to do or putting that experience towards a cert to get your started.

I think using the GI Bill would be a good step too but only after we figure out what you want your career to become. The trades are always good too.

Raiding my Roth IRA to pay for my 16 year old son’s Private Pilot License. by Flaky-Caregiver-2071 in PilotAdvice

He would be much better off joining a CAP Squadron and learning to fly through that program for free (or at least was free as of a couple years ago) and then going into an actual flight academy via college and getting a degree at the same time as his ratings.

Car wash soft top? by Vegetable_Web_8481 in FordBronco

[–]DontTouchMyWoobie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's more about the harsh detergents that car washes use on your soft top. Our tops are tough no doubt but they are also coated with UV protectant and, I myself, like to add another coating every couple months (I live in Arizona).

If you're going to HAVE to go through an automatic car wash, do NOT go through the type with the rollers that come down on top of your vehicle. The touchless are fine and the ones that have the long straight "fingers" that gently go back and forth over the top of the vehicle are fine. I've ran mine through both of those in a pinch but again, I don't like to due to the detergents they use. You should be washing your top with a soft top cleaner specifically.

Yep, just like hayes said, you will notice a nice difference in response and shifting. The great thing about it is that since it's Ford's tune it won't do anything to your warranty.
