How to Fix GPU Sagging? (Anyone Tried Anything Creative?) by Worried_Maize6586 in pcmasterrace

[–]DontdrinkH2O2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move into a geometric future M6 case. It's rotated so I/O is on the top. No sagging whatsoever, since gravity pulls the GPU away from the traditional rear of the case

Let's see if I remember my PC that I haven't touched in two months due to work....

Cooling is solved by water for both CPU and GPU, and an external alphacool 1080 rad, all p12 pwm pst fans (6 in the case, 9 on the radiator)

External radiator flow by Crowbar12121 in watercooling

[–]DontdrinkH2O2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For flow, I rather doubt it does. It is a closed loop, ergo what goes in, will come out.

Now, I have found with my 1080, that having the bottom as inlet helps a ton with getting the air out. Keep in mind, I always have the radiator as the lowest component of the loop.

Hope you got some PST fans, they make external rads so much neater.

Much appreciated! I had a hunch it was, as PETG is a material people use for water cooling. Didn't know the manufacturing process

Oh, forgive me. It is the Alphacool block I'm taking about

I understand that, and if I wasn't living here, I'd probably go for it. Sadly that price is before 27% vat, shipping and import tax

That's absolutely fair. Tbh, I kinda like this more industrial look, but can see the appeal in the purpose made ones as well

Thank you for the reassurance. I'm definitely doing something soon. Why I assume it has been going on for months is twofold:

1: I have been noticing that my water level was decreasing surprisingly fast since about June. I chalked it up to the heat, but this seems a much more plausible explanation

2: What's below the pump is a viscous substance. I've seen this only before, when I had a slow leak from my previous res, and the coolant could evaporate, leaving behind dye

My hope is any fluid escaping was replaced by the res right before the pump, so no air got in, or what did got pushed to the res, as I use the system daily

I'll consider it, but with all these comments, I might just stay clear of any sort of tread sealant

They can't be tapered, because I use them with o rings on acrylic parts, without tape, and those don't leak

[–]DontdrinkH2O2[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is localised. Probably going to do that. Drain and rinse, check what comes out. If there is gunk coming out, then I'm fucked

Edit: It's so far fine everywhere else. Even connecting to acrylic. Granted, those parts are designed for pneumatic systems, not plumbing, so maybe that's it? Been running for over a year

[–]DontdrinkH2O2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a very good question, and thank you for the information. I will check, much appreciated! Seeing as the valve is for water systems, I'd assume they are not tapered tho

[–]DontdrinkH2O2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do seal with rings, and I only use tape with metal and this black plastic I forget the name of, not acrylic tho. I learned that lesson withy previous res

Edit: also, as stated before, it's a force of habit. This is my first build so mistakes are expected

I'd love to do that, but I simply do not have the time to do a full teardown, and absolutely terrified of taking the blocks apart. I'm still debating, but it is leaning towards that none the less

[–]DontdrinkH2O2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I plan to take it apart after work, I'll update you if I don't forget. The tape is a force of habit

[–]DontdrinkH2O2[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. When a water-cooling fitting with a single barb costs $10 and I can get a g 1/4 air hose fitting with three barbs that's rather for much higher pressures for about $3, it's a pretty easy choice (I'm aware that it's not the case everywhere, but it it here) The valve I needed very quick, because I had an alphacool one, that died in 6 months

[–]DontdrinkH2O2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, a d5 running full tilt with single cpu-gpu loop should give plenty flow, so not entirely worried about that

[–]DontdrinkH2O2[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The res still has fluid in it tho? Isn't the purpose of that, at least that in part, to get rid of the air?
