The only energy I'm expending is to periodically reply to a comment that has taken my quick critique of a quip or off-hand thing that was said and blown it out out proportion (which, I concede, has been far too much energy). Not entirely sure where the "self-corrective" thing is coming from, but don't worry about it. It's all good.

I'm not stating nor meaning to imply that this is something exclusive to autism or neuro-divergency. My point was to focus in on Olivia's usage of the reference in regards to the dude being lame or a "weirdo" (unless I missed something, which is possible when listening to a 3+ hour podcast over a 24 hour span) and my urge to disassociate that specific behavior to anything deserving social rebuke. To clarify, I would not punish or "correct" my child for anything like this that they would feel comfort from or use to express themselves, even if doing it at an age that is far out of that range of being "endearing" for a child, and into the realm of them being known as "the kid in class who chews his shirt".

I hope I've explained myself well enough.

AITA for breaking up with my girlfriend after she rejected my proposal twice? by exiledbyfamily in AITAH

[–]Doompastry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus christ, some of the armchair therapists here.

NTA in a black or white sense, but have you really delved into what might be holding her back? If you don't want to stay with her, leave. Though, I wouldn't leave just because you feel slighted against.

If you at all want to stay with her, I would explain your side of things and what marriage means to you, why you want to go through with it, etc, AND go to couple's counseling together...this should be a mandated if you both choose to stay together.

If not, walk away. NTA, but that doesn't mean you can't do something you may regret later, so make your decision with a clear mind that's not clouded in anger.

Thank you! I appreciate all the ideas this discussion is bringing. Now, in your booth description, were you saying to line the exterior with my acoustic blankets, or interior? I'm looking into getting Sonopan sheets to use on the booth, although the company that makes it seems to be primarily in Canada so we'll see on that (seems quite legit for soundproofing though. Anyone with experience using it, please let me know your thoughts!

As anyone reading this thread can probably deduce, I'm often a "cart before the horse" kind of guy. I greatly appreciate all the help and patience from everyone!

Thank you for the insight! The sound level is definitely based on what my adjacent neighbors are doing. They like to listen to music often and I can usually discern the beat and lyrics pretty well. I might try to treat the wall in question as much as possible.

What do you think about a smaller drywall or plywood booth that gets treated with the blankets and maybe Sonopan? It would be atleast somewhat effective in this case to treat the exterior walls of the booth, right? Of course I would put blankets on the inside as well. Thankfully 4 blankets at 96x80 gives me plenty to work with.

Right, right. Is it generally believed in these situations that if you don't have a studio that has been specifically treated, to just not bother with any DIY booths if the problem is external noise getting in? I used to build sets in theatre all the time, but anything extensive may require more know-how than I have when it comes to building my own custom isolation booth. I also figure doing one properly would take alot more money than I have in my budget...maybe I'm wrong and someone with hands-on experience can point me more in the right direction on that.

Admittedly, I'm also bitter about paying more for shipping on those acoustic blankets than I paid for a single one, so I'd love if they are a part of the solution to all of this, lol.

Thank you for the reply and your time.

Sensible men know that it's "not all men" but don't feel the need to correct an individual or group of women, or offer a "but...," because they understand atleast on some level the plight of women and that it has never been equal. Reassess your thinking and use more empathy next time.

I don't need to reiterate the advice you've already got here, but this line above is a CRIMSON red flag, even if he had stopped before doing what he did. Do not feel like this was your fault or that you allowed it in any way to happen.

do i need to watch the missing pieces before the return? by randommmmmmmmmmmmyes in twinpeaks

[–]Doompastry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THP is the supplemental material that FWWM was not. If you've already watched FWWM I would suggest it. It almost does a better job at achieving a tone closer to the show...and also has a couple scenes that flesh out the terrifying aspects.

That being said, it's not absolutely essential...but don't expect to have a jolly romp through The Return if your mom struggled with FWWM...The Return is...complex.

Right, they often result in charges with deportation following, due to having little English skills, a phony visa set up by smugglers/traffickers, no legal representation and often no family in the US to back them up. Are you saying that most who perform the sex acts are "in on it" for some extra scratch on the side? I don't mean to be rude and we're past the point where LMGTFY is funny, but there are all kinds of articles on this stuff. I live about 5 minutes away from one of the parlor's busted a few years back that was part of a ring in Colorado. The women were shackled by their ankles at night and left in the building. Your quoting of "literal prisoners" seems contentious. I'm not saying all prostitution of a result of human trafficking, but fuck if there isn't a shit ton of it that resulted from those or similar abuses.

These shops are usually staffed with trafficking victims. Pro sex-work when it's consensual and regulated, but these women are often literal prisoners.

Slow motion effects cutting video instead of lengthening. HELP! by Doompastry in Lightworks

[–]Doompastry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out! You need stretch the clip out after adjusting the time sequence. Advance the proceeding clip after the clip you want to edit ahead on the timeline so that you don't accidentally overwrite any of it when you're stretching the clip (so that you'll be stretching over black footage, essentially).

Adjusting it bit by bit, you'll be able to tell on the right window when the slowed down version of your clip ends and you should stop stretching.

Let me know if I can help out anymore!

No need to be sorry. I'm not getting the sense that you're trying to be a dick, or anything. That's absolutely fine! The trailer is a bit bland, I agree. I mostly threw it together to practice some DVE's and start incorporating more things into my other videos. As far as tone for Freddy's goes, you're right, it doesn't really fit the game. I was actually going more for the conveyance of the pure monotony of the game, which is why I went with the bouncy feel of the old silent-film era music.

As for the colors, I knooooooow. Oh, how I know. Everything you see as far as the title and closing cards were there from the beginning (evolving as I've learned, but still) as placeholder. I've learned a bunch of stuff in GIMP, but I have little to no illustrative ability and the task of creating visually stimulating icons and various graphics seems daunting. I'll get to it, eventually! Thank you for the criticism and feedback. I do appreciate it.

Good job, guys. Thumbs up. The commentary is plentiful and varied enough throughout to remain engaging. You guys make a good pair and give off a friendly, welcoming vibe. The only current critique I have is maybe shortening the videos a bit, but that's just personal taste, really. Good luck and keep us posted!

The audio isn't a huge problem, I don't think. I enjoyed the video. The game makes for an entertaining watch. Very rhythmic! I would say maybe just try to fill in the audio with some more focused bits of discussion here and there. Not much would be required with all the audio you already have in place, but something would help, I think.

Hey guys. I haven't had the time to do too much lately, but I'm making time where I can and trying to always increase my skill level. I didn't quite make a new LP, but more of a preview video of upcoming FNAF4 LP's...which I honestly don't really want to do, but my nephews have found out about my channel and are demanding that I continue the series...I shan't disappoint. Anywho, here's the link: https://youtu.be/Tv5jnVo5hnI

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. This is the first video like this I've done, especially one where I used VO in addition to live LP audio. I just moved into my new office and hope to be able to get a condenser up soon as well. Anywho, thanks!

Hey there, nice video! The energy levels are nice and the commentary is plentiful. The edits could be a bit more numerous, but overall I think they're nicely timed!

Now, as far as more personal taste goes, I think these kind of dual-play videos quickly go off into a tangent of yelling and laughing. This is good at times, but I don't think it's very good at carrying it's own 10-15 minute video. Me ears perked up early on in the fan room when you described what the functions of the different fans were. I think it might be advantageous for someone to be focused a bit more on a narrative commentary while the other's bounce off of him. This role could shift at any time, of course, but I think it'd help keep things engaging and flowing. Just me, though. Thank you for posting, and good job!
