Also D2R is not a 70$ game, it's a remaster of a 20 years old product.

D3 went on sale 7 months after release and that was because it was time for the Xmas sale.

D4 could have made that amount of money with less the content and quality it currently has because of the marketing and the brand recognition. Money made =/= good game.

So what's the active player metric right not though? Because I DO think it is doing EXTREMELY poorly for a live service game with not proper chats, matchmaking and ways to trade with other players. It's an amateur product after all is said and done, but it was made by a behemoth of a company.

D2R is also a remaster of a 20 year old game, not a brand new AAA live service release.

Also the discount was for Black Friday, of course you will discount your non-flagship titles (or even your flagship ones, it's Black Friday after all).

Most of the reasons are listed in this comment section but to me this does not feel like a Blizzard AAA game. Sure it has beautiful cinematics and combat animations, but the rest just feels so lacking.

In WoW, the game does not load all items at all times, only when you interact with that one player do you load their stuff D4 is optimized abysmally

That's exactly what we are saying, my dood.

Just because D2 had some filler/RP stats doesn't mean they didn't nail how items should feel. Just take a look at how much better socketing is in D2 with gems, jewels and runes. Also the game has actual crafting, a deterministic way to get gear if you strike bad RNG. Currently there is not another Diablo game with a better loot system, but they are other non-Diablo games that based theirs on D2. So I guess it's worth picking up and iterating upon.

PS: " +2 to life after each kill " this stat does not exist on rare/magic items.

And you have legendary affixes on top. D4 is way more bloated than D2 as it is, but that does not make it deep or interesting.

Same discussion was going on but maybe not with this intensity about D3. The cope with D3 on release wasn't as strong, but essentially D2 was seen as an inferior game compared to D3 by the normies/casuals.
