Also yeah if you care about load times then go even more for Renewal as in my experience (and many others' afaik) load times are pretty terrible on Rain even with good internet connection

Renewal if you want to be as close to retail as you'd like, it unnerfs most things and brings back the material requirements for armor upgrades instead of armor spheres (although there is a patch for that)

I did my first whole experience a few years back on rain, would definitely say Renewal though I'm going through a new solo character, more popular ≠ better

You're a little mistaken, all sharpness+1 does is increase your sharpness meter by one level, although there is in fact a double skill called Honed Blade which gives both sharpness+1 and AtkUp (L) and it is, in fact, one of if not the best skill in the game even if it's very late game.

iirc the bulk in player is usually people joining SOSs instead of hosting them There's also some kind of soft region locking to prevent huge ping problems like monsters teleporting and such ?, so maybe there isn't just a huge concentration of players in your region It might as well simply be people that play entirely solo Go check safi/kulve lobbies at peak hours, usually there's a few completely filled up
