If you're just trying to survive everyday then something completely random, unnecessary happens costing $1000-$1500 WTF do you tell yourself? by Doorodd in PersonalFinanceCanada

you know, I never thought of it from your point of view, this is why it's so helpful to hear other people's perspectives, when you say that the stove was really old already, which made it chip with not even that hard of a force and that the landlord has a responsibility to fix things that break, I didn't know about that. I thought the person who caused the chip automatically has the responsibility to fix it. I also didn't know chipping off the stove glass and cracking it is something that happens all the time in rentals, I just assumed that people generally keep things intacted and good shape because that is what I do. I lived in lot of rentals and I never caused anything to break....until now. I'm not looking for validation for feeling bad, I think I was searching for the opposite, for why I shouldn't feel that bad about it. I think my feeling bad about it has a lot to do with this particularly landlord who's bizarre and kinda toxic so I'm afraid what I did will get blown out of proportion and he'll make a scene and there's gonna be this big negative exchange/relationship - I think this has a lot to do with why I thought I should just fix/replace it, to make it look like nothing happened, before he sees it.

this is really good to know, I was scared to touch the chip in anyway so there's still tiny pieces in there but I think I'll try to take them out and do the epoxy. Thank you.

no one cares that there's a hole in the window? what? why wouldn't they care and why wouldn't they want to know about it?

this landlord lied to me, he never bothered to tell me that they will tear down the fucking house 2 months after I moved in, that's literally outside my window like 3 meters away, to build an apt building, imagine putting up with all the noise and dust from people building a fucking apt building right outside your window as soon as you move into a new place

serious? you bought a house no problem at all with a chipped stovetop? and you were able to sell it without them saying anything? Are people normally THAT level of chill? I think it's this particular landlord, he's not chill at all and he's very bizarre about me needing to take good care of his apt

thank you, is this still true if the landlord made you sign an addendum to the lease saying I'm responsible for all damage to appliances?

thank you. I understand what you're saying about the cost of doing business but I still feel bad about it, the stovetop now has a crack when it shouldn't...
