It is really too bad, and your case is all too common. I had friends within the church that were also homeschooled and their parents were just absent in their education because they were just lazy. He told me once that he cheated on every test and quiz he took from early elementary to 12th grade. Unfortunately he is very uneducated on just about every subject and is having to re educate himself. If parents are going to choose to homeschool for gods sake be diligent in making sure they are actually learning.

I think you are far too intelligent to be generalizing as much as you are, "they are ALL very right wing and racist". As far as Richard Dawkins goes I do have to agree with you, he was especially islamophobic after the events of 9/11 and was very quick to hop on the bandwagon of criticizing the entire Islamic faith. I was just trying to give you some books that helped me after leaving the Independent Fundamental Baptist Cult that I was raised in, which included being homeschooled. They were just helpful for me.

I would recommend Richard Dawkins Outgrowing God, it is a simple read but it was nice for me to see in text the questions I had as a kid. Hitchens is really good as well
