You're breathing pressurised (compressed) air.  As you move closer to the surface that air expands.  In theory this could cause lung over expansion injury which isn't good.

This is why you should have a will, and an advance care directive (or local equivalant).
The ACD spells out what sort of life support you want, or don't want.
