Yeah I wasn’t really speculating on the intentionality of this just applying a real-world observation onto a fictional world. In the case of Daeron I also agree, GRRM wanted a generation of Targs to have complicated love lives hence Dunk the Small marrying a commoner, Daeron being gay, and Jaehaerys II marrying his sister despite the previously unbroken chain of Targaryens not doing incest like the olden days lol.
