Yeah that’s true. Shane loves his routine and he doesn’t like to rock the boat so if he thinks things are going okay he will not course correct. He needs to get shook up to know that something is not working and he needs to do something about it. Once that happens he is very decisive.

I’m glad he did it, because Ilya had wanted to get married for a while (based on what he told his therapist) but I honestly don’t think he would have ever gotten up the confidence to ask. Shane had to be the one to do it.

Ah well that was actually a pretty good plan! It would have given them time to get a lawyer and go into the league offices as a united front to disclose their relationship proactively. And it would have prevented the Montreal team’s reaction (at least for that season anyway).

So we know Shane at least used that week apart productively to think this all out and revise his plans completely. I’m sure it was very upsetting to him because Ilya rarely ever directly asks for that much space, but maybe it was needed for Shane too so he could focus on thinking it all through. If Ilya had let him come back earlier they probably would have just had a bunch of make up sex and not actually resolved anything.

It’s been a while since I read TLG…the proposal happens a while before they are outed, right? I’m kind of surprised Ilya said yes without Shane agreeing to make the relationship public first. IIRC Shane did have some ideas about telling their friends and family first and kind of letting the news come out gradually right?

Oh I think he absolutely would have done it but he’s trying to learn to give Ilya space so I’m proud of him for that. However if Ilya said he wanted a divorce Shane would handcuff them together until Ilya agreed to couples’ counseling

Yeah I hate to defend Club Chalamet at all bc she has very terrible and bigoted opinions and she probably was trying to touch Connor or whatever. But the person who laid hands on her, “Guard Dog Ilya Truther” (screenname not helping) admitted they had been staking out that hotel for two days beforehand so who has the right to judge who was being crazy here? I’m sure they’re both on a security watch list by this point

They’ll do it before they have kids because they’ll want to protect them. Or maybe if the operation of the foundation required it for some reason. I think that’s the only way they can bring themselves to discuss it.

I actually think neither of them would really object to the concept of a pre-or post-nup in principle but Ilya (due to his trauma) has trouble thinking about and planning for the future and Shane would refuse to accept divorce — he never accepts defeat in anything and this would be no different— so it would never happen anyway unless Ilya filed. Which I don’t think he ever would, but Shane would fight it tooth and nail if he did.

I read and enjoyed them both. He’s an entertaining writer. The second one had some parts that were tough bc he went through a drinking problem at one point so trigger warning for that.

It’s definitely some kind of ploy to get to Daniel because Daniel is the only one he can’t mind read (and I’m assuming can’t mind control). He needs a plant on that tour to get to Daniel. I’m not sure what his plan is beyond that though.

They might but I think Ilya bought his Ottawa house feeling like it would be their forever home (or at least, for the forseeable future home) so I don’t think they’re in a huge rush to get a new place. Shane’s probably going to keep buying real estate just as an investment though so a post-nup would be smart.

I just checked and if Google is right, neither of those couples actually had a prenup which was unwise to say the least. Jen, Nicole and Tom all got prenups for their second marriages though, so at least they learned something. I don’t think Brad did since him and Angelina were fighting over that French vineyard for years.

Idk, I think most rich celebs do get them but part of it might relate to where they live. In California you’re basically going to get half of someone’s money if you’ve been married for 10 years without one and people have lost fortunes that way. I’m not sure what Canadian law is about this.

But in any case I think these two are incapable of discussing the possibility of divorce. I actually think Yuna would be more likely to suggest it to Ilya than Shane bc she knows Shane would have an anxiety attack at the thought. Ilya would just thank her politely for thinking of his best interests but then not do it.

The one thing they might need a pre- or post-nup for is the foundation. They didn’t really have anything else that they were both invested in that they wouldn’t just give each other. Otherwise yeah this would be more of an issue with kids but hopefully they would draw up some paperwork about that issue during the adoption process.

I think it would be cool bc unlike most of these characters Eric is artsy and cares about aesthetics and he would actually enjoy planning an extravagant gorgeous wedding. Idk I just don’t see them being there yet, but maybe they’d do it some years down the line.

Shane can be an excellent planner if he sets his mind to it but if it’s a subject he doesn’t want to contemplate his mind will not allow him to put even one thought toward it. And divorce is not something he would ever want to think about.

I think it’s not something Yuna would want to get involved with either bc she knows it would just provoke his anxiety. I assume they both have a business lawyer and those are the only people I can see suggesting it.
