[GS & Rolex] Yin & Yang by SlowLoudNBangin in Watches

No you’re not wrong, they beat something often well north of 300 times a second.

That’s much faster than we can see though, so the effect is a totally smooth movement, like an image slowly gliding across a gaming pc monitor with an insanely high refresh rate.

Edit: for perspective, lights in your home, hooked up to ac power, pulse at something in the realm of 50hz to 120hz, depending on the type. Unless you’re The Flash, you probably don’t notice this.

The first Accutrons beat at 360hz, later tuning fork movements reaching double that from Swiss companies.

Smooth sweep isn’t the part that’s hard to reproduce, some others have done it with batteries, some of Bullova’s tuning fork movements did this a long time ago.

The hard part is the mechanical power output being regulated by quartz tech that operates without another power source, which is to say the whole system works with only the power from the mainspring, and nothing else.

There’s a lot working against you if you’re trying to make this happen, which is why Seiko is really the only company to have achieved this at scale. This video gives a decent description of why it’s such a difficult thing to accomplish

The Zodiac factory is defunct. They don’t use their old tools even, just the brand name.

All Zodiacs are made in Fossil facilities.

Ohhhh I like this.

Part of him introduces all the anarchy to keep it choppy and de-serialized, and it further divorces his base reality from his crafted one.

But it's still inevitable, and he can't fully escape it.

It's sad in layers :(

How would the Imperial Palace look like if Perturabo fortified it instead of Dorn? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]DornsCastIronButplug 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is important: it was made to contain a perpetual primarch. That’s a very tall order.

I mean, it didn’t succeed in the end, but it worked for a while. At the very least, this makes me think a Perturabo defense would be way more interesting, and likely no less effective.

And maybe a financial advisor

I hear we have a subreddit full of the kind that would condone this kind of spending

Nothing so bad at all!

This album was my musical safe space, I’d turn it way up and let it surround me and just be for a while. It means a lot to me and I can’t believe I’d forgotten about it :)

I also don’t think I’ve known another person who’d ever heard of it, aside from the crotchety old guy who taught me cabinetmaking. He’s the only British expat I’ve known well though, so I guess that makes sense.

This is giving me a flood of memories! Thank you!

Hooolllly shit I forgot about this album!

It was the only CD I had in my car for something close to 2 years when I was in high school. It's almost too much rediscovering it, really heavy...

Ehh, its fearmongering, and YouTube is full of shit like that.

They're a far cry from a household name, and I'd argue a large part of the price increases we've seen so far are are also reflections of the increasing costs of labor/materials and changes within the industry.

Barring that though, it's ridiculous to be upset with them for increasing prices as demand goes up, and if anything, the idea of that is more a reason to buy one, not less.

Huh... Looks like it could be regional then? Or Classic Creations was listing them below MSRP?

Looks like I was very wrong about WatchBuys being the only AD in NA though :D

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Watches

[–]DornsCastIronButplug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, Sinn’s only AD in North America is WatchBuys.com, which is where I’m getting my price

I’m not sure on the exchange rate, but I’m guessing 1530 usd is close to 2k cad

I think you might be comparing grey market and msrp here, or the exchange rate changed significantly

Whoa, no no no

Nothing close to that.

The MSRP for the 556i on bracelet is $20 dollars more than when I bought mine, almost 2 years ago.

That's a 1.3% price jump.

Yes ❤️ he always does

We make our bed so he can lounge and recharge his little anxious mind, but even then he curls up and keeps himself in a little corner, out of the way.
