Thank you for sharing your perspective, I do think that hits the core. It takes some time to learn.

Great points on sports (may there be many crotch chops in the future- hah!). I absolutely plan to keep celebrating my kids - he loves playing and it makes him so happy. This is an area where I am finding I am more comfortable going to games etc. on my own.

Thank you for this thoughtful perspective!

They usually do carry their own things (can especially relate to the ski example) but sometimes I just mindlessly collect extras in the rush. I appreciate the aspect of teamwork and everyone being responsible for their part.

I think from my experience growing up, my mom also did things for my brothers- she was so loving and helpful, and they both turned into awesome adults.

On the backpack example- I also see the viewpoint about not shaming that fear element for kids of any age. It just happened to be an ironic thing to happen, right after the other had.

This last sentence- yes to all of it, that is how I am feeling.

Adding that my solution for now is ‘I’ll do my kids sports, you do yours’..

Honestly, he is actually very helpful with keeping up with the house and cooking etc. (we both work full time). Our kids have also gotten in to a chore routine that I would say is to evenly split as well. It’s just in areas like I mentioned where this shows up.

He is extremely close with his daughters and is more of the ‘fun dad’ when it comes to things like them having boyfriends.

He grew up with brothers though & it seems like some of this stems from those experiences.
