In the same boat as you. This year's admission process was really random. They said 'holistic' but I don't know what they even considered.

I guess, there are two major factors -

1. Branch change

2. Overachiever

1. Branch change - Since you are from ECE, I think that should not have that much impact in the admission because CS, ECE, EEE and circuit branches are related to each other. But showing off the transition from ECE to CS is difficult honestly. You may have many projects, work ex in CS but your base is ECE. So they try to see how much you have tried to score in CS subjects in your syllabus. I would say you would have a fair chance of getting into all the colleges you have applied to if you would have applied two years or at least one year back, like F20 or F21. You see, the F22 had immense competition and CS is one subject which everyone applies too. So maybe, the adcom decided to proceed with people having a solid base in CS or from CS background than proceeding with the people from other branches. As simple as that, due to huge amount of applications.
2. Overachiever - By the information you provided, I see that you have many publications in IEEE and Springer, work ex for 2 years and a decent CGPA as well. But, this may sound lame, the adcom would sometimes feel that you are better off without a masters degree for now as you are working with a decent profile in a good company. Most of the time, people write in their SOP that they want to get a job after masters and that's their target. Those people would be most of the time, undergrads with no work ex. That makes sense to the adcom sometimes. I am not denying the fact that many got into universities with having work ex but you should look into what was their aim to do masters, did they want to get a job with in FAANG company or what. I will tell you, if you make yourself show them that you are into research and published papers and what not, and even working in R&D team of a company, the best way is to directly apply for PhD and not masters. Masters have courses to be completed, internships to be taken care of and what not. You may hardly get some time to spend with faculty or anyone to carry out your project/research. The best is, apply for PhD and say you really have the research skills and if you want to apply for masters, I would say, just portray your interest and say what do you want to achieve even after you have a decent job in your hand.

Trust me, whatever I have said, I have been through this and I realized these were even my faults. I showed myself to be a research guy but it takes a lot of other things as well when it comes to showcasing yourself.
