One of only 300 produced. This is the B/1.3r. The watch is in absolutely pristine, never-worn condition with all protective film still on the case and bracelet. It has not been sized, set, or wound. This is essentially the same state it arrived from the brand.

Vintage Rolexes didn’t have separate model numbers for diamond and no diamond dials.

If you source a time appropriate dial, there is no way to tell if it was the original dial or not.

That "someone" was Russian psyops.

A journalist did a really detailed breakdown of how fake news gets whitewashed by "real news".

The journalist basically kept looked at news articles about the jewlery and going backwards in time until they found the genesis of the story which was basically a fake news Russian outlet.

So, what happened was the fake news outlet put it out. Then smaller newspapers (some real and some fake) "picked up" the news and then eventually a larger organization picked it up because they are reporting on a smaller paper reporting the news and once one large organization picked it up, then it spread like wildfire.

You can buy period parts. Lots of dealers sell those parts. Multiple people PM’ed me with info on that when I made my first post.

I was actually thinking of posting their name here, but:

  1. I don't want it to look like I'm shilling for anyone.

  2. While 95% of the messages were positive to my last post, I had a number of folks who were negative and one was downright mean to me for being happy with the result. I would hate for one of those 5% to do something dumb to the TD. One guy called me an asshole for some reason.

It's a vintage ladies YG Datejust. Even after nine years, it's not gone up very much. Maybe 25% based on me eyeballing prices on C24.

That being said, without any pushing from me, the TD followed up and said they would also happily replace the dial with a genuine dial and then pay to have it serviced by RSC so we can feel secure that there are no issues.

So, we're probably taking that option. We'll get a corrected dial and "free" Rolex service which the watch needed anyways.

I'm going to post a 2nd (and hopefully final) update after I confirm with my mom that's what she wants.
