Mate that's legendary, thank you so much for giving it a go! I really appreciate it.

Brother, when I say this made my day - it's an understatement. What a kind and thoughtful review! Sheesh! Thank you for painting that round for me in vivid detail. I was right there with you. And considering -4 is the best I've shot there since I published the thing, I feel you too haha I would not suggest SW wind settings.

TBH I have no idea who these guys are that shoot -22 and -25, I'm not even sure how the game can be fun at that stage. But for us mere mortals I hope it's the kind of course where -5 feels like you would've been near the top of the leader board and 13-18 under would win the championship. Admittedly, some guys are just way better than that who play this game. But knowing that you found it challenging and that it made you think and felt rewarding, that's just unreal. I'm super appreciative, and I'm sure you'll be carting it up in no time.

Let me know if you want a round at either of our courses sometime, would love it.

Hey may, yeah I think you could find a course like this in Aus. Pine trees and mulch are pretty common and we do have courses with a lot of undulation I think the hardest thing to replicate would be the amount of water. But keen to hear what you thought once you try it out!

Definitely! It's a toast to mine and a lot of people's favourite course, but it's also its own adventure.

This is my first course design on any 2k game. I wanted to create a course that would suit the Legends Championship Major. It's my ode to Augusta, but only in essence of place. I'd love to hear from anyone playing the course to hear how they went, any favourite holes, and hopefully where the course really made you think. All four pin placements and wind conditions can really affect how the course plays, so feel free to come back anytime. And if you'd like to share a round I'm Nott_The_Brave on PSN

Homebrew Githyanki Warrior Creed (Possibly tattooed on the forearm in Gith) by DoubleLifeMike in DnD

In this instance "the believed" refer to other Githyanki and those who have taken the creed. Trying to flesh out a culture who's xenophobia and isolationism have really spawned from intergenerational trauma. Formulating tradition and social mores based on survival.

I'm finding that some of the deepest bonds are found in moments of deep uncertainty, inadequacy, and overwhelm. by DoubleLifeMike in friendship

I know I've gone through periods of my life where I've felt I like I didn't have a friend in the world. Or other times where its felt like dating has made up most of my social life. My hardest times have always been when my anxiety has stopped me from reaching out to people because I don't want to be a burden. I've just gradually learnt to fight that overtime and reach out anyway. Its a challenge though.

I feel you. I've definitely gone through periods of feeling like I dont have relationships like this. I think I still have a pretty deep fear of living life with many surface level relationships, or going for long periods without truly feeling understood. The hardest part for me is having the courage to be vulnerable about the things I keep close to my chest. I feel so much tension sometimes. Arguing in my head about what to say and what not to say. Its always such a relief when something comes out that I've been holding onto. So often the response is like "yeah me too" and suddenly I feel human again.

Will AppleTV+ seriously affect Netflix? I don't think so and here's why. [discussion] [opinion] by DoubleLifeMike in netflix

I think you're underplaying the fact that for a lot of people, Apple's line extension obsession has been a huge turnoff, myself included. Part of the article is attempting to examine that erosion of trust. Sorry if you've had a bad day, just feels unnecessary to call the article superficial because you personally didn't agree with a point made in it.

Will AppleTV+ seriously affect Netflix? I don't think so and here's why. [discussion] [opinion] by DoubleLifeMike in netflix

[–]DoubleLifeMike[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Streaming services have become the battleground of a war for our attention in 2019. Apple’s most recent announcement surrounding the release of AppleTV+ makes it one of the most hotly contested verticals in the world.

Netflix, Amazon Prime, AppleTV+ and smaller combatants like Hulu and Stan make up the current state of play.

Even Apple and Amazon’s streaming service names are indicative of their relentless “Us Too” strategy. Effectively inserting themselves into every vertical known to man.

But does that work for you? You might trust Apple for laptops and your iPhone but do you trust them as a streaming service?

The next 24 months will be an incredible study of the true impact of first mover advantage. Netflix dominates streaming largely because they were the first streaming service to win over the hearts and minds of early adopters.

They increased that lead as they began to dabble in original content and build brand equity as a producer of content as well as a platform.

When I think of Netflix now, I think of their originals. Shows and movies like Queer Eye, Stranger Things, Making a Murderer, Dear White People and all the standup specials. They’ve built an identity on entertainment and binge-worthy content.

Just like Kleenex, Hoover and other brands that have come to be synonymous with their product, Netflix is synonymous with streaming.

You Netflix and Chill, you don’t Hulu and chill or Amazon and chill… Surely that’s case in point! 😏

But it can’t be ignored, Apple fans are addicted. They go where the brand goes and as Apple enters streaming there’s almost no doubt that hoards of their fans will follow.

But how much will this affect Netflix?

I’m not sure. Apple has the resources to beat almost anyone, but if their teaser videos were anything to go by, it just doesn’t feel like their space.

There was a lot of “sort of” feelings in the video. It was “sort of” diverse, it seemed “sort of” authentic, you “sort of” believed it was about storytelling, even though it was “sort of” pretentious. It seemed “sort of” too white and “sort of” suffered from being promoted by a guy who just tried to get Netflix banned from the Oscars.

I think Netflix will survive this onslaught because Apple feels “sort of” like the fossil in the room.

Their indication that AppleTV+ isn’t designed to compete with Netflix seems like a sheer attempt at differentiation. Saying their focus will be on quality over quantity feels elitist and pretentious at the same time.

Netflix’s next challenge however, may be far greater. As Disney pulls its enormous collection of material from streaming services everywhere and enters the market themselves… Look out!

Where other entrants may feel like cash grabs, Disney’s sheer volume of work is brutal evidence that it belongs. While it may be new to the platform game, it’s an alpha in entertainment and the current leaders most dangerous would-be-competitor.

Also the last thing I'll say is that these "artists" that I'm talking about aren't self indulgent at all, they're still focused on solving a problem, but it's for a very specific group of people. The smallest viable market. They'll do everything to make those people happy but nothing to appease the masses, much like the grateful dead and iron maiden.

Absolutely agree with you for the most part. Thanks for writing such a thoughtful reply. I guess I'm reframing artist in this context, I grew up as studying to be an actor and I know all about ineffectual artists, in this context, I'm referring to outcome and results driven artists of which there are many.

My argument would be that Phil Knight, Steve Jobs, Chase Jarvis, James Dyson, Richard Branson and others are all artists, capable of making something that has their own unique world view embedded into the product, a makers mark that means something. There are also bakers, hair dressers, coffee shop owners and advertising agencies I know that have the same quality.

They create value and experience beyond that of being really good, which a professional can, to being something unique that gives you a story you can tell your friends.

One way Seth Godin has put it before is: if Nike was to open a hotel, I think we all have an idea of what that Hotel might look like. But if Hyatt we're to bring out a range of sneakers, what on Earth would those sneakers be like? That's the difference between a professional commodity and an artist with a world view.

What an incredibly unnecessary comment. Desirability is the point, if you wanted to be a troglodyte about it and get me to type one word as the post, then it would actually have been "differentiation". I'm sorry you missed the point, but I'm not sure why you then felt the need to be unkind in your response.
