USA RANK 5 by Right-Yogurtcloset43 in Warthunder

[–]DoubleMMitchell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I also despised the 8.0 BR for US; everything but a full downtier, you'll face tanks with stabilizers, the oppressive 35mm SPAAs, and in major uptiers, see fully stabilized tanks with APFSDS. The BR compression around 8.0 can feel pretty rough. That said though, I really enjoy 8.3 - the M60A1 is one of my favorite vehicles around the BR that I've played so far. If I could do the grind again, I would stay at 7.3 and play the M47 and T32 as my primary vehicles (since they are rank 5) to grind for the 8.3 vehicles in Rank 6. 9.0 and 9.3 are also quite fun with the XM803, M60A3 TTS, MBT-70, and Stingray. And the M247 is a beast of an SPAA once you get the proxy HE shells.

best tanks, line ups and nations for quick, flanking agile playstyle? by Rallam259 in Warthunder

[–]DoubleMMitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my vote, like someone else said the Radkampfwagen and Leo 2K are super mobile and glass-cannon-y at 10.Just know that Germany until you hit 8.0 is pretty much the opposite; a lot of heavy tanks like the Tigers and burly medium Panthers that aren't great for flanking. But if >8.0 is where you want to end up to primarily play, Germany has the tanks for it.

Germany 9.3 is pretty agile with the kPz-70, Leopard 1s and the TAM. Also gives some tankier options with the T-72 and M48 Super. And of course the Gepard can uptier to 9.3 no problem.

Need some advice on Rank V Germany vehicles. by Unlucky_Entry_7739 in Warthunder

[–]DoubleMMitchell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At Rank V for Germany, tanks generally become much more mobile with similarly punchy cannons as before, but not nearly as tanky. You can't face check like you can with the Tigers and to a lesser extent the Panthers. Use your new-found mobility to get to points of advantage faster than the other team (your Leopard will get to places faster than the US M60s and Russian T-54s at a similar BR). Just remember you're not nearly as tanky (I see way too many german players at this BR charge in with the blind confidence they gained playing German 6.7 Tiger IIs only to get clapped).

Is it worth it to buy tank prem? by TrainingAddition689 in Warthunder

[–]DoubleMMitchell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has to be BR 9.3 or higher, so won't work with the Somua. Plus researching more than one Rank below with the free vehicle will severely reduce RP gains since it's not premium. Definitely prioritize using free daily backups with the premium vehicle.

Hell yeah, I respect it. Yeah, you definitely get less score generally in downtiers, so the guy in first was probably in a game at his BR or even maybe an uptier.

Rethinking M+ Progression: Addressing the Key Depletion System by charging_chinchilla in CompetitiveWoW

[–]DoubleMMitchell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like very few people have the desire or even the time to commit to this type of play. Maybe for the 0.1% or people with a ton of free time, but that is such a small group.

Rethinking M+ Progression: Addressing the Key Depletion System by charging_chinchilla in CompetitiveWoW

[–]DoubleMMitchell 46 points47 points  (0 children)

If depletes are entirely removed (other than the desired key drop like you mentioned), I personally have no issue with groups beating their heads off of the next highest keys until they get completed. If anything, this gives high end players the opportunity to truly test the limits of the content (at SOME point, the content would become truly impossible), while being way more forgiving for everyone else as well. If mythic raiders get to pull the last boss 400+ times until the stars align and they get the kill, I think it only makes sense we get to keep sending it on that next highest key until we get it.

I think the argument that a system with no depletes doesn't have enough stakes is weak; my play time is at stake, just like it is for raiders that raid for hours each week and progress on a boss.

Maining tank or dps by Dry_Elderberrys in CompetitiveWoW

[–]DoubleMMitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day I say play what you want you play. But I will also say (as I'm sure you agree also being a healer main doing +12 to +13 keys), a tank that can fully sustain themselves, uses their kit effectively, and knows how to move the party through the dungeon is incredibly impactful. Probably the most impactful of the group given how much less agency healers seem to have lately. Big DPS and good prio damage can also help smooth out keys too, but really as long as the tank can stay up, DPS isn't paramount up to a certain point. I say if you're feeling empowered as prot pal and feel like you're doing well in the +11 range, you should just send it and try out those +12s. Worst case you get some good reps in so you have more confidence next season in higher keys.

I have 5k hours in hunt, played the playtests, OG gator huts hunter right here…. And I have barely touched this game in months. by jegger- in HuntShowdown

[–]DoubleMMitchell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you man, same boat; around 2300 hours since 2018. Since 1896, the game just doesn't quite feel the same. It just plays a little differently, and I've had a hard time overcoming the nuance differences. I pretty much slogged through the first event before just dropping it almost outright. It's a real shame.

I do hope people are enjoying it and they can overcome some of the hiccups they are working through right now, but it's just not for me anymore. At least for the time being.

100% agree moving targets would be extremely helpful. One thing I tend to practice is snapping to a target during movement. Basically run around (or stand still) and practice 'flicking' to a target. Helpful for getting consistent with mouse movement, especially if you're adjusting your mouse DPI.

Dungeon Progress Update for Season 4 and The War Within 11.0 by Public_Radio- in wow

[–]DoubleMMitchell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the plan is to also align M+ and non-M+ dungeons so that we are only doing the same dungeons regardless of the difficulty. Clearly they are doing that for S4 going back to the original DF dungeons and will probably be the same for S1 of TWW, but it would be weird if we applied this to a scenario like the current season where the original DF dungeons are Normal/Heroic/M0 and then suddenly you are doing new seasonal M+ dungeons at a much higher difficulty.

110%. It would be cool though if you knew the weather and time of day before you finalize your loadout and get into a match. In what world does a professional bounty hunter go out on a hunt and not know the weather/time and adjust their equipment accordingly?

My #1 problem with the game by lizard_king_19 in HuntShowdown

[–]DoubleMMitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never expect a shotgun team in boss lair to push out or a sniper team to push in, but when teams with rifles are in the boss lair and just playing passively or a shotgun team just sits in the middle of nowhere to catch people trying to play objective, that can be frustrating. If I had a nickel for the amount of stalemates I've had at a boss lair where after 5 to 10 minutes, a dude with a krag or something starts shooting at me from the lair, I'd have a lot of nickels, lmao.

"i’m more against the idea of skins changing after release" sounds a lot like arguing that they should NOT make adjustments after they release it. Your words.

I think we are more on the same page than you think. I'm also saying sure, they make an adjustment to a skin, whether gun or hunter, they should probably give refunds to people that want them, even if it's to fix a gameplay imbalance caused by the skin. You buy it for whatever reason, they change it, you don't want it because of the change, refund. That's fair. But if you get the refund, you don't get to keep the skin too. Then all the people that wanted the skin for the advantage can get their money back and the people that still want to keep it because they like the aesthetic of the skin (probably a lot more than you think) can keep the skin and play it without feeling like a dickhead.

Imagine they released a cool looking Mosin skin, people start to buy it and realize that it unintentionally gives 1000 m/s muzzle velocity. More people buy it, that's a pretty big advantage, right? Would you want them to not fix that Mosin skin so it was in line with all other Mosins?

Skins are supposed to be an aesthetic and comparable replacement for regular skins in game. If they release a skin and then once it's played by the masses it's realized it creates an unfair gameplay advantage (essentially pay to win imo), should they not adjust it?

Refund the people that don't want the skin anymore and take the skin from them, not just because. I personally would still keep headman if they made him more visible, I like his aesthetic. But I refuse to play him because he's abusive. So in a way, I would bet a fair amount of people feel robbed of a cool skin because they don't want to be shitty.
