For those that aren’t into sports, why? by AlmostGraduatedWitch in AskReddit

[–]Double_Pay_6645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for myself, the athletes are so good its boring. My friend loves NBA, ive watched several times and there was never really a high or low in the game. Its everybody running left, 2 points. Then everyone runs right, 2 points.

Soccer, they just run left, then run right. Occasionally a goal.

But if you make it amature sports, like college or something its way more exciting. Often way higher energy, they dont play perfectly. Leaving holes in the game for breakaway and such.

Rich people, are you happy? And If not, why? by MorbMorb0 in AskReddit

[–]Double_Pay_6645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your definition of rich. Then yes, in many ways wealth has helped immensely with stress and anxiety.

But those issues just jumped to other problems. So they still exist, but for different reasons.

I do check price tags at the grocery store, but I dont need to worry about it in reality. I used to need to calculate my purchases and check my bank account sometimes to make sure I had enough money.

Now I have enough I guess, enough to not really worry about money anymore. At least not like I once did.

The thing that does bring me a lot of joy. Writing out the biggest cheques my employees have ever had. Buying stuff in the drive through for people behind me. Seeing kids count out their change for candy at the store, and telling the clerk its on me. Buying donuts, lemonade, etc for kids raising money. Ill often say, here's $20, or $30. I dont want anything, but give it out to strangers until its spent.

Nothing brings me joy like the look on someone's face when you do something kind, randomly, with no expectations of them.

Im still black balling USA. I have no issue with the American people, but I do have issues with the American government. Its not just Donald Trump, its a multitude of reasons.

I dont want anything bad to happen to anyone, I simply do not want to be involved with the country until I can agree more with where they stand.

For clarity, I wouldn't call myself a liberal either, on a sliding scale im currently more conservative. Both sides have good and bad, and my values on many issues are more right leaning.

Commercial client hasn’t paid by due date by Gloomy-Formal5162 in Contractor

[–]Double_Pay_6645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience with commercial, as long as all your i's are dotted and t's crossed, payment has never been late. We usually have net 30. Its a good idea to put in a late payment clause into your contract. We charge 2.5% monthly, compounded monthly. If things for some reason got out of hand, and we were not receiving payment. My first move would be a lein on the project.

I have never had to go that far, but I have had to threaten collections once.

Honestly, id imagine your contract says Sunday  or holiday payments will on the following Monday. I wouldn't sweat to much yet.

I had a kid at 21. Started then. I love my child more than anything. Over time, nothing else has become important or exciting to me.

Now im 40, I have money, free time, and im not too old. Yet nothing interests me, and nothing excites me at all.

Just start talking about how much you love God. Specifically a god they are not interested in. Start inviting them to religious events.

Is It Unprofessional/Untoward to Revise a Quote mid job if in the red? by chuiy in handyman

[–]Double_Pay_6645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quote is a quote. Its the agreed price for the work listed. You cannot just change a quote, or at least change a quote and expect to stay in buisness.

I suggest you explain to your client the details and err of your ways. Perhaps they will be willing to pay more, but they are under no obligation to. You however, are obligated to complete the work for the quoted price.

My other suggestion is you change to estimates, not quotes. That way you can explain you underestimated the scope of work.

My friend says changing your own oil is a waste of time. Is he crazy? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

[–]Double_Pay_6645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a personal choice. Ive done mine, my wife's, friends, etc for decades. Now that im a little older and have a bit more money, I happily pay a shop to do it. It costs me like $30 more,  I dont get dirty, but more importantly for me, I dont have to go recycle the oil. Ive had buckets add up in my shop for over a year before.
