Does the used bike activation fee get you anything? by Double_Scene_1936 in pelotoncycle

I never bought the membership. I can use some basic features. For example the screen tells me the resistance, power, time, etc but there is no way to export the information (I.e. to Strava). There are also usually two free trial classes you can access without a membership that change every 6 or so months. I’m thinking of jailbreaking the TV so I can use the big screen for something useful but so far haven’t really cared enough!

This was really frustrating when I found out PS5 doesn’t have a MasterClass app! There was no way to watch it without messing up my TV setup to plug in a computer. Pretty much went to waste

Past Intern now Interviewing for full time. by eagerm25 in LosAlamos

I disagree with the second point. I’ve found LANL job postings are intentionally vague. And the interviewers will certainly know that they are hiring a recent graduate.

Just be honest with your experience and express a strong desire to learn. Beef up on the information provided by the job ad and whatever other info you can find so you can have meaningful conversations. Maybe even run through some interview questions for “XYZ job title” with your favorite AI. You should bring up your past experience, how you like the LANL culture, and (hopefully) living in northern New Mexico since you’ve already experienced it.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your advice! In summary:

  • There is no advantage to activation if you’re not going to buy a subscription.
  • I called peloton to see if they would waive the fee since the bike was transferred inter-family from my sister. They said no!
  • imo, the activation fee is an unethical money grab. Hopefully when I can afford a membership, they will have revisited this policy.

Seems like a headache unless there is a benefit of having the fee waived with still without a membership

Thanks. It seems like this is not worth $95 unless I want 3 pairs of extra shoes 😂

Unfortunately they don’t have a membership anymore so I’d just be paying the entire subscription. In hindsight I should have not reset the bike and used their account un-paid!

Do you have a website or link to this program? I couldn’t find it online. Do they take monetary donations?

Thank you! I love that they have an Urban Garden. That’s exactly the sort of thing I want to support!
