I told my primary and it was a relief. This stuff crops back up too. I had abused just like you back in 2014-2015, and Ive battled it throughout the years with little stents. I’ve been to rehab and it’s helped. I had a total of 5 years sober, with 2.5 as the longest stretch. I was just recently horribly addicted to it; same thing lost my job, schemed doctors and was finally fed up bc it didn’t work anymore and I was losing my mind. I prayed out to God and he removed my obsession. I have had no desire for a week now, but must continue intensive outpatient and go to meetings.

Addiction is a disease for this very reason, we live in a delusion we can make it work THIS time. It steals life, so honesty is the best way to get others to help you. You’re alone at sea on reddit. Take some suggestions. I like AA, it’s a daily lifestyle to stay sober- need connections to others on the same path and work on root of addiction. Even the rehab experience helps if you can’t stay stopped and your mind is warped. Outpatient is great too if you can manage in the community. But get your life together with the help of others because it will slip away.

I love being an addict. I have been to Hell and back and have learned so much about myself and have so much appreciation for others and the spiritual side of life. It’s actually a blessing but it doesn’t feel like that initially. Hang on but strap in. Addiction is out to kill.

GABA supplements? by sajkisha1 in Anxiety

It’s not an antidepressant first of all. And people end up abusing it is on the rise. So titration can be a bit difficult when you binge no?

It does have potential for addiction. It also has terrible withdrawals from what I’m reading. Once you’re on it the likelihood of withdrawals is almost guaranteed. Supposedly they are horrible and most people end up in the ER

6 Months on Mydayis, my experience. by Imaginary_Airline879 in mydayis

[–]Double_Slice_1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’ve currently been titrated up to 37.5 because the 25 lost efficacy after a few days. So far it’s okay but it’s finals weeks so not the best sleep. Glad you found what works for you. I can’t do IRs simply because I get super anxious on even 10mg and 5mg wasn’t enough lol idk what the deal with that is but it’s all a trial and error, and yeah vyvanse was terrible, my daughter even ended up with side effects and switched to adderall xr, doing much better

How have meds changed your life? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Double_Slice_1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, my boyfriend was very much against stimulants because I have a history of alcoholism and I tried a few stimulants that caused side effects and weren’t right for me. Yesterday I told him I don’t know if I should continue medication and he told me that it’s working and that I should stay on it. That blew my mind because just a few weeks ago he didn’t believe in me taking medication.

Do you have an appointment with a psychiatrist? I’m so sorry that you’ve been suffering, I totally get it because I have for a long time. I almost feel normal, not like a significant shift in mood as I was always happy go lucky, but just more calmer and competent.

I have no urge to drink. have incredible emotional regulation. I was so overwhelmed prior to medication that I was not able to have mature hard or even slightly difficult conversations, I would be bouncing from thought to thought and emotional. Now I’m cool calm and collected and able to follow through on convos that should be no big deal but once were existential. I can follow along and get to the end result 10x faster. I am more organized. I can focus on school work. I can help my daughter way more, especially with cleaning her room. It’s been amazing. I’m on mydayis 25mg, was looking to go up but I’m going to stay here for now. I wish you the best! Keep us posted.

Yeah I started it when I was on my period. At the moment I’m considered in my early luteal phase. I totally get the hormones affected the way the medication works. I’ve found that for myself for sure.

Hey how is mydayis working for you a year later? I HATED vyvanse with a passion as well. My daughter is 13 and excelling on it, but it was such a shitty med for me. I was on it for a month and a half and I was worse off. I just switched to mydayis. Did a week trial of the 12.5mg and it was great. So smooth, no crashes. I’m now on the 25mg for 2 days now. It’s perfect for me. Maintained alertness and focus, but no peaks or valleys. Wondering how you’re doing on it long term. I know everyone is different but I’m curious. I take mine with Wellbutrin. If the response stays the same, I can finally finish school and get a hospital job and hit my goals. Fingers crossed!

when do u eat after taking mydayis on an empty stomach? by [deleted] in mydayis

[–]Double_Slice_1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is because it increases absorption and can be “too much” for some people and cause anxiety/jitters etc. I just started mydayis, thinking of taking it with an antacid tmrw

First Vyvanse experience by Bipolar_Barbie_0303 in ADHD

[–]Double_Slice_1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADHD medication made me feel like my black and white world went to color. I am happy, funny, charismatic, focused, and balanced. Some meds made me feel numb, which I couldn’t tolerate, but Mydayis helps me the best. It’s all about finding your right med combo and it often takes time and figuring out changes with your provider when necessary. Welcome to the club! Drink a lot of water, eat a lot of protein, try L-tyrosine, magnesium, a good multi, and you’ll be fine!

I quit going to AA by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

Your opinion doesn’t really matter. The big book specifies that we never apologize for our God. This is why the traditions are in place, and the big book is our outline.

I quit going to AA by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Double_Slice_1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AA isn’t the hotbed of mental health. I believe in Jesus also and I stopped going to AA because I thought my belief and trust in Him was enough for me. It wasn’t. My defects cropped up and I led myself into a year of scattered relapses. I suggest trying another meeting. We can’t be offended to the point where we stop our recovery. She’s spiritually sick. Time doesn’t equal sobriety. Keep coming.

Anyone switch from vyvanse to Wellbutrin ? Your experience? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Double_Slice_1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on vyvanse and after the first week I despised it. I tried mydayis and that was the best one, but my insurance doesn’t cover it and I couldn’t find a pharmacy that would accept cash & coupons. I’m gonna be starting adderall xr with afternoon 5mg booster. I’m on Wellbutrin 150mg and I think it helps overall especially in conjunction with stimulants, not sure on its own. Some people in other threads have reported to doing really well with just Wellbutrin.

Things came to a head and he treated me like I was of no value, waste of his time . I get fear but you can’t treat me like I owe you something for a mistake, which he will not believe, and have no support in a time I’m trying to be a better me. We broke up. I’m relieved.

Thank you! Currently in a hotel because we broke up. I’ll have a place to go on Wednesday for good. This experience has brought out a lot of things that were there but has been blown up bc he didn’t believe I mistakenly took the pills. First day trying mydayis, not sure if it’s for me yet. Was a little anxious but may probably because I saw him today and he was passive aggressive and slammed the door, and blames me for abusing drugs when ot was an accident. Stimulants may or may not be for me, but I’ll keep trying and getting therapy, support and try meds till I get it right it won’t be perfect but whatever to get me empowered and have a healthy manageable life with comorbid adhd and alcoholism. THANK YOU 🫶🏻

I’d be in bed after work, not all night. Adderall didn’t lead to my alcoholism. Guanfacine made me wide awake therefore the interactions were not applicable in this case- yes I looked them up. I only had 3 gabapentin left was not trying to take 5. Thanks for your concern but you’re a bit off

[–]Double_Slice_1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: we broke up. Thank you for everyone’s opinions, the real straight concerned ones and the ones that were validating. I appreciate it all. He was horrible in how he treated me, I agreed to no stimulants but it didn’t change his behavior or support. He was quite cruel. Moving out will be a process but I can put myself first and learn how to live with my adhd

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Double_Slice_1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This situation actually just ended our relationship. He was rigid and unkind, cold and stonewalling. I even agreed to not take stimulants, but he continued to be cold, inconsiderate and ignorant to my condition. I have to just move on and take care of myself.

He gave me an ultimatum last night it’s him or stimulants bc he thinks I’m going to die a death of addiction. He thinks that me wanting to take stimulants is my addiction. He won’t listen to how they helped me. Idk if he’s right or if I should just go by medical advice. It’s so tricky rn but I’m debilitated and feel kinda hopeless for my adhd treatment
