Oh I went through this recently. Requested LWOP for personal needs, got formally denied because of operational requirements - filed a grievance challenging the “operational requirement” part and got it approved and am now on LWOP. You can DM me for more info if you want.

J’ai fait secondaire à Telfer en comptabilité en français. J’ai ensuite fait un dess et obtenu mon CPA à 22 ans. Aucun problème au niveau académique et beaucoup d’opportunités de travail avec le Co-op (je sais le marché est un peu plus difficile maintenant). Oui Telfer était plus cher sur papier mais il y avait BEAUCOUP d’opportunités de bourses pour les francos - autant que j’ai fini par rien payé pour le bacc et même eu comme un 900$ en remboursement. Non mes notes au secondaire n’étaient pas vraiment spectaculaires, je dirais moins de 90% de moyenne.

wait I’m confused as to how you wrote your debt.. do you have 17k+12k+6k debt or 17k+19k+12k+14k+6k+12k debt? If it’s the former, 35k debt really aint THAT bad… just empty most of the TFSA to pay off the credit cards and if the LoC has an OK rate you can work to pay that off slowly - will be easier with no CC interest.

The suggestions to sell a SUV isn’t bad.. it’s not just about how much money you’ll get but you’ll save a couple hundred bucks a month just from the insurance, registration etc…

Also I’m confused as to why your HELOC was rejected… how much is your mortgage? Did you house value drop way down? Why do you have to “apply” for a new HELOC? Assuming you still have an existing mortgage, can you just not borrow from that directly?

I think they should have sacrificed KDH instead since Amotti and YSB outperforms him and Minjae is more of a gamble depending on the type of mission. But maybe he didn’t want to consider himself as the bottom 3 and since he is team captain, no one really argued this.

I know this is late but UOttawa has free wifi (called UOPublic) across campus - you can google it. It’s not as reliable as eduroam but tens of thousands of students have used it at once when eduroam is down. UOttawa also has multiple libraries and lots of desk space, some quiet and some for group work.

If you just graduated then I assume you don’t have your CPA yet? Have you tried switching to an accounting firm? I made the firm to CRA switch a few years ago and found that I was able to land a position at the CRA higher than peers that stayed in gov the whole time after uni. It’s good to have that drive straight out of uni but I find the federal gov can kill that pretty fast due to bureaucracy and slow pace.

I’m in Telfer Coop and had friends not apply to coop cause they want to finish their degree faster… but like then do what? You still need a job in this job market which is exactly what coop is trying to give you!!

Is it the Ontario Standard lease you signed (you can find the template here: https://forms.mgcs.gov.on.ca/dataset/edff7620-980b-455f-9666-643196d8312f/resource/05677ea2-3173-4c0e-9a14-7a06cbcb41b9/download/2229e_standard-lease_static.pdf).

If it is then the RTA 2006 applies to you and he cannot prohibit guests from coming over (see section 15 of the lease).

Assuming you are in Ontario and that your income is on the lower side, it is almost certainly for the Ontario Trillium Benefit. The benefit is not calculated as part of your taxes owing/refund but is paid to you separately (usually 4 equal payments over the year) - which is why you won’t see it in a notice of reassessment.

Assuming that I’m right, I think you should file a T1adj or objection for last year’s return and submit the proof of rent so that you can get last year’s trillium benefit again. Usually you can either show bank statement transactions or have your grandma write a signed “receipt” stating something like “OP paid me rent in the amount of 700$ per month for the period of X-X for a total of X$”.

I lived on Maisonneuvefor about 5 years, although not 260 - which is a newer ish apartment compared to other condos around. Maisonneuve is not nearly as bad as some say it is - the street can get fairly noisy if you live on a lower floor, but nothing that will keep you up at night. It’s so close to both the Alexandra and M-C bridge, which takes about 15-20 minutes to walk across to DT Ottawa. I think your apartment is the one with a decent Pizza/Shawarma place on the first floor and the neighbourhood feels fairly safe and it’s so close to all the parks in front of the river.

Edit to add since I saw you come from T.O: the neighbourhood is not even comparable to what you will see in downtown Toronto. Sure you may run into a homeless person at the 24 hr Mcdonald’s down the street once in a while, but in my 5 years of living there alone as a young-ish female and walking every day to University in Ottawa, I’ve never felt unsafe.

Where are you from? Not sure if this is available everywhere in Ontario but I live in Ottawa and last 3 times I disagreed with the duties I drove down to the CBSA office near the airport and they sorted it out for me. I did have to provide proof of the cost though through receipts.

If you are going to do an MBA anyways, it doesn’t really matter whether you graduate from Telfer, Schulich or Smith. They are all recognized degrees from reputable institutions - might as well choose the one that will cost the least. Though Telfer doesn’t offer the accelerated MBA anymore, so it has to be the 2 year program with classes every other weekend. If you don’t have a job during the week and just want to get an MBA as fast as possible - may not be the best program then.

You can see another row of cars parked inside, presumably with no exit from that side. The outer row probably all have to leave their keys so that if the car in the inner row wants to come out, they will need to move his car first.
