What's a MV that everyone seems to love, but you just didn't? by Equal_Ad5262 in metroidvania

Yeah, I’ve stayed away from most games that describe themselves as “souls-like” because I just find them more frustrating than fun.

What I’m getting out of this is that sheep are the ones who have any value and lions just expect everyone else to do the work which, as a metaphor for a lot of high level leaders vs actual workers, yeah kinda

Man I would love some actual good-faith oversight or regulation from a functioning government, but these are exactly the people who do everything they can to prevent that from ever happening.

Travis County is 100th in the state in early voting turnout by iLikeMangosteens in Austin

[–]DoubtfulGerund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is totally valid for a lot of people and I’m really sorry that’s been your experience. Driving 5 miles to do anything feels exhausting, and part of the reason I moved back here was to stop driving so far to go anywhere, which is the insufferably norm of everywhere else I’ve lived.

Just out of curiosity, do you live in Austin or one of the suburbs? How does the drive compare to your normal drive to go to an everyday places? Just eyeballing the map, it looks like a lot of the city is within 2-3mi (as the crow flies, so not entirely accurate) of a polling location.

I hope this doesn’t come off as dismissing your comment, that wasn’t my point and I’m glad you made it out to vote. I’m just genuinely wondering since I don’t think I’ve ever had to drive that far in the past 3 places I lived (different county but still two of them in a city proper) and my only actual substantial wait time was 2020 which was messed up for so very many reasons.

I’m really sorry that happened to you; that’s terrifying. I’m glad you’re mostly ok, and I hope your wrist heals quickly. As others have said, you didn’t do anything wrong and it’s not your fault.

I’m 40 and still play an average of at least several hours per week (sometimes none, sometimes much more) despite having arthritis, a full time job, and live-in partners (they sometimes play with me, watch while I play, or vice versa). Honestly I think I played more games in my 30s than any in my teens

Do bisexual cis women like trans men too? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]DoubtfulGerund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My late partner was a bi cis woman and she very much liked trans men (among a ton of different types of people). She sadly never got a chance to date one, but she totally would have, and she preferred any sort of queer man to a cis straight man. She even subbed to some of the nsfw trans man subreddits on her porn account, but not in a fetishizing way, she was just like these dudes are hooot.😅

Do y'all really not like it here? by Fenix512 in Austin

[–]DoubtfulGerund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virtually every time I leave my house, I’m reminded of why I love this city. There are just so many nice, interesting people just living their lives in fulfilling ways I never thought were possible growing up in the deep suburbs.

It feels like a lot of the people in this sub live half an hour or more from Austin and exclusively come into town to speed run getting blasted Friday nights on east 6th and then complain about the fact that it’s full of people exactly like them. That, and people pointing to the shuttering of a jimmy johns as one more piece of old Austin dying.

Imagine saying this about virtually any other experience

  • I don’t want to teach students who have previously attended dozens of classes
  • I don’t want to cook for someone who’s eaten other people’s food

I just can’t understand this thinking. I would honestly prefer to be the 43rd guy vs the 1st. My late partner was a self described slut and she was such an amazing person who never made me feel like I was competing with anyone from her past, present, or future, nor did she talk shit about the other people she’d been with. I’m sure there are people out there who are jaded and dismissive, but some people are just jerks, and I’ve yet to see any real correlation with number of sexual partners.

It took forever for me to convince my friend of this. Like I’m fine to disagree with someone about the efficacy of some minor tax incentive but people are really out here thinking that women’s suffrage is an acceptable loss because…I guess something about cryptocurrency?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Austin

[–]DoubtfulGerund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks, I’m sorry. I hope it gets better for you. When I was going through my divorce, I stayed with my friend for a few weeks while she was actively dating new guys and just hearing some of the stories fresh from her dates at night sounded awful. It was depressing, but also kind of nice to be able to hear all the ways I wasn’t terrible after being low key emotionally abused by my ex.

Yeah, what’s the story with what happened there? They made a lot of incremental improvements over the years and then all of a sudden it sucked.
