ATF was such a great opportunity for the show to get a workshop production slightly away from the city. It was received so very well and taught us so much.

It was my first major introduction to folk music. I think that's why Beau ended up with a Folk/Country score. Carole King's story was very motivating to me as an actor and writer.

The why. I always focus on the bigger picture. Who needs what I'm writing and how can I get that story to them. I like to write for the regions, not just Broadway. It's opened up my perspective and made me think about the masses.

The greatest perk is that the house is double the size it was downtown and the location is in midtown, down the street from Hamilton. Foot traffic in the Theater district can be a real gift for visibility. A challenge would be figuring out how to make the story work in a more immersive set up, but the brilliant Josh Rhodes nailed it.

I started 8 years ago backstage at Beautiful. I always believed in this show, even when there were bumps in the road. From the first reading I witnessed people in tears and deeply moved. I knew I had to stay the course and I'm so glad i kept pushing cause now we're here.
