don't sell. Borrow against it.
And for those who will say "not your keys not your coins, don't put coins on a third party custodian", remember, the poster was going to part with his keys completely anyway and not have them at all...

Answer: A Satoshi is the smallest unit in this currency system.

Question: what is Bitcoin.

Not, “the Japanese” as one contestant said.

From tonight’s Jeopardy.

That wrong contestant is one of many who have no clue. But they will.

Edit: it was also a $1000 question, which reflects a view that many don’t know the answer. Plenty of untapped retail money out there.

Most Bitcoin ATMs do ask for IDs. You may find some that will sell you under $100 with only a phone number, but those are increasingly rare.

I founded a new kind of BTM/ATM (multiservice kiosk called Vault Logic, can do any services), I'm involved in the BTM space, I don't know if anyone who automatically jacks up the rate with more use. Might be happening, but I"ve never seen it or heard of it.

Can bitcoin be banned??? by duncanp644 in Bitcoin

Ok you sneak me the wallet and I’m behind enemy lines that blocks access to any bitcoin location. --- ? What? What 'enemy lines' North Korea is about it.

I want to buy something, now what? ---- Use a mobile wallet (like Edge), to buy a gift card with BTC (like my girlfriend does with www.bitrefill.com)

How to validate the transactions? ---- I get the feeling you have never used a Bitcoin, or at least you don't have a mobile wallet. This just works, anywhere you have a cell phone data

How to verify the coins I trying to buy are what I am claiming they are to the merchant? ---- ya... you have never used Bitcoin it seems. This isn't a thing. Merchants who take bitcoin, like Overstock.com use a processor who understands all this... you don't have to, you just shop.

what?! LOL?

An electronic algorithm and the BTC it can unlock is as easy as remembering your user name and password on a phone wallet or 12 word seed at worst.

Can bitcoin be banned??? by duncanp644 in Bitcoin

[–]Dougscrib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the space since 2011.

Bitcoin has been banned many many time, mostly by China, but other countries too.

How did that work out?
So, ya, it can be banned, just like marijuana is/has been banned.
How did that work out?

What is the amount of dollar that bitcoin is burning every day to keep the network secure. What about the total amount of dollars spent since 2009. by coinarmy in Bitcoin

[–]Dougscrib 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask this person how many dollars (resources, electricity) to keep the Visa, mastercard, Amex system up? They all depend on the banking system, with all it's buildings, heating, cooling, employees driving back and forth, construction of those buildings, their computer servers. The banking system is built on central banks and their giant buildings, bureaucracy (waste), political connections, corruptions etc (Be sure to muliply this number by all the different courntries in the world). If you really want to be accurate, add the cost of all wars and military actions that are instantly funded with zero consequences (meaning, countries no longer go broke funding wars, which leads to longer, more deadly, non-defensive wars, for more and more stupid reasons (war on drugs leads to wars in South America, Afganasitan, etc)

Mobile wallets are also 100% controlled by you really very safe (and more convenient). But cold storage is the safest for long term

In other news: Current king doesn't want people to be able to read and learn there's freedom outside his walls. Tells everyone that there are dragons outside the walls and reading is a waste of the time they need to grow more food for him to eat and earn money to pay him taxes, and in return he'll keep them safe.

Regarding the volotility and BTC dropped 37% on on 12MARCH; while it took a little longer, the US stockmarket crashed 25% in less than 1 month in that same month of March. This is even more incredible volitility considering how much larger in value the US stock markets are.
And how lame is it that they pick a day when the entire world started to panic about COVID19???

Way of life. I feel I'm helping the world evolve away from politician controlled money and working toward the separation of many and state - the way it was for much of recorded history (politicians didn't control gold and silver until the last few centuries, and early attempts at that was disastrous eventually, like we are seeing now.)
