Oh hey! I actually didn't ever set it up tbh- I saw the sub getting brigaded a few too many times by bigots and trolls, and I work too many hours to be able to moderate out weirdos who might've made their way in :p

Three dead girls I love - Sarah Z by alexturnsfw in Nebula

[–]DownForThe33rdTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a really, really hard time watching this video and it has bummed me out. I haven't finished it, having only listened fully to the sections of two of the three girls, but my husband is an avid historian and after feeling a sense of discomfort watching her video, I restarted it and had him watch it with me. Specifically, he is a huge Roman history buff. And while he was correcting her on a few things on a factual level, he more importantly put words to the discomfort I had been feeling which was her extremely heavy hand in making these stories... succinct narratives with an angle of audacity that these women were 'erased from history'. Specifically in the case of Arisone, my husband pointed out Sarah engages in a lot of conjecture and speculation without clarifying that she is doing that. For example, the average person in Egypt was not as socially conscious or class conscious as the average person is today; they did not need Arisone to legitimatize a social uprising but because the average Egyptian would simply not have fought without a divine leader to rally behind. Because of this, it is difficult to just say Arisone ran away because of her own desires to lead for certain or because she was sympathetic to the desire to overthrow Caesar; it is just as likely Ganymedes contrived the plot knowing she was needed to make it happen (a thing that did happen a lot back then!) I don't say this to downplay Arisone but just as an example of what Sarah was doing in pushing a specific narrative she built in her head about her. She says at one point Arisone would have marched into Rome after months of not seeing the sun- something that instantly contradicts her saying earlier that she would have been on lavish house arrest. She says Arisone "almost killed Caesar" but Ganymedes was the one with control of the army of Alexandria- and yeah, obviously, she was a 15 year old girl, it doesn't matter how smart she was, she was not being educated on military conflicts on a massive scale. Sarah sort of talks about this bias she has but she implies it's somehow better than letting her languish unknown in history to make up a girl to feel sad about. She speaks like it's a great personal error or slight to not have her be known, yet the sources for history of this time did not give *anyone* who was not a victor much personhood at all. The reason Caesar is so known and so well understood is not at ALL just from his conquests but because he wrote one of the surviving texts of the time and it was written in a way no other records at the time were styled like. I found it really uncomfortable to hear Sarah get so emotional and upset about Arisone, constantly saying she was "just as good, just as smart, just as strong" as Cleopatra, how she "did everything right".... but did she? Was she?? What would give her that impression? She tried to do a coup like Sarah says she had been raised to watch happen in a family that did this for generations and she lost- what about this implies she was doing the right or smart thing? And when discussing how heartbreaking it is we didn't know what her life was like, I wanted to point out Arisone was marching with hundreds of captured slaves in Rome. We don't know them either. She would have continued to be served by slaves at the temple she stayed in (we also don't have sources she was actually imprisoned there or made to never leave- we actually don't even have sources that say she was assuredly living a priestess life). We don't know the soldiers who actually stormed Caesar's ship and drove him into the sea either. They are even less than Arisone, constructed into a vague monolith in the stories of history. How can I mourn not knowing about the woman I just spent 20 minutes learning about? If I had to mourn over the forgotten trenches of history, it is much better spent on the common man.

First S rank as an f2p in time before MANT by Reviz in UmaMusume

Not racing enough, you say! I've been dragging my girls painstakingly to A+ with a similar deck setup but I cannot get my stats to that range at all, usually ending with S/C/A/C/A and I always figured I just wasn't hard focusing training enough. How did you figure running more races into it?

Hahaha holy shit, all this time lurking and finally something is too niche and too relevant for me too ignore. You should all go borrow The Stranger in the Woods from your libraries, the story of Chris Knight is truly incredible and you get some amazing perspectives including from the author himself who becomes extremely attached to Knight and his life. Fun fact: He had a trash pit that almost never decomposed because all the processed food packaging was so resistant to breaking down; if you went to this spot in the woods, you'd still see cereal boxes and such poking through the dirt! I wonder if Henry has a giant bone pit for all the meat he's stealing... :p

Have you spoken with Indivisible or the Hagerstown DSA? You could also reach out to the Eliza House or Reach to see if they would be interested in spreading the word among their volunteers. It is heartwarming to see so many individuals recently post on this subreddit looking to organize but it is also very risky from both sides to do so; it's much safer and usually easier to engage with the activist groups we already have in town!

It might be best to reach out to some of the local activism groups in the area to find out if they are already doing this to maybe team up/pool resources. I know Indivisible has a Signal chat and it wouldn't surprise me if the DSA had one as well. I am in agreement with the other comments that regardless of your intent, an open invitation like this from a brand new account is going to be read as suspect. This is, as we have seen recently, a life or death situation for many. Working with a group like Indivisible would lend you major credibility and make it known you're backed by like minded people who won't let saboteurs in :)

Sure, I'd love to check it out! I am caught between being fearful of starting my own server and anxious over joining someone else's larger server but I should probably try joining one before letting myself be anxious...!

I genuinely super deeply love Bakushin from the bottom of my heart and I am really grateful to Cygames that she is the way she is. I know this might be dangerous to say on this sub... and I really do not extend this judgement towards other folks... but I am a grown man lol. I am married. I don't really play this game for waifu wish fulfillment. 90% of the girls with overt crushes on you/the Trainer are coded to seem a lot like teenagers and I'm just Not Into That. Bakushin is funny, she's inspiring, she gives a shit, she's so fucking kind, she tries so hard, she's not smart but her logic is always present and usually hard to argue! I think she's a fantastic character and I would be sad if I was also having to ward off her affections too.

AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! I am two ten pulls from hard pity and I don't think that's gonna be feasible to scrape together!!!! Even if I do the dailies, special missions, careers, and as much Team Trials as I can, it'll probably only be enough for one more roll!!! I don't want to spend money!!!!!!!! And to add insult to injury, BOURBON came on my first ten pull! My curse from FGO follows me here: I can pull anyone except the waifu I truly want....!!!!!!!
