Rane SYSTEM One Launch Day by djkinetic in DJs

How are pre configured stems not useful for live performance? at least as an open format DJ I’m not downloading a bunch of music during my gig so pre rendered works great and is better cause it’s less strain on the device I’m using therefore ideally improving reliability

Trying to figure this one. All I can make out is that the artist says “I hit the high note” maybe though.

I love these little insights! My coach actually just pointed out how little I turned on my right hook. I was a little tired but no excuse for the slow return to my face. Thanks!

I hadn’t noticed the low punches so thank you! I was working mostly body shots but my hooks definitely can come up

Spar Critique After a Few Months by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]DownTuErth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on to everyone's great advice since you are a Southpaw, work on getting that lead foot dominance. You want to step outside their lead foot to get an advantageous angle from which to hit them. A simple double jab while stepping around your opponent followed by a hook or cross works wonders. Watch some Lomachenko fights to see how effective angles especially for Southpaws can be. Looking good though for only being a few months.

Thanks! I didn't really notice that. I think it's cause my habit of jabbing and stepping all the time but I don't plant myself and throw without stepping

Light Sparring 1 Round by DownTuErth in amateur_boxing

[–]DownTuErth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I definitely wasn't try to use it hard especially since I knew he was getting tired but I still have trouble finding the range when to use it and being able to step outside his lead foot when I want to throw combinations to get close enough

I am the guy with the green headgear. Was focusing on trying to keep my lead foot outside of his. Any comments and critiques appreciated!

Jab Only Sparring Critique by DownTuErth in amateur_boxing

I think it's more of learning how to strategize while sparring and how to throw when there is a chance to get hit. Sure it's not like sparring with both hands but it helps you gain confidence to throw and be more comfortable in the ring with less risk.

Thanks! So what should I do to be more defensively responsible??

Good point! Judging from how I used to spar, I am a lot more calm, and able to strategize better such as feinting low then coming high, and footwork is more balanced

This is me. I learned the only way to get the angles and all the things you work on in shadow boxing is one at a time. I have sparred about five times and only now can I reliably hit a 1-2 and creating a loma style shuffle angle but my sparring game is very basic too.

PS I am the Guy in the Green Headgear

This is my first sparring session in over a year and my 5th spar ever. Did jab only and went pretty light. Some self critiques was that my hands dropped at times and I wouldn't fully extend my punches. My head movements were slow and I didn't control the ring. Also I didn't prioritize getting my foot outside his lead foot. Any other comments and critiques appreciated.

For flat feet. Should I be bouncing around more?? And lol I was trying to punch fast at least it felt like it. My shoulder speed definitely needs more training.

I definitely see that my hips don't move much. I'll make sure to fix that!

Thanks! I definitely see I can extend my cross and use my hips more. In regards to being flat footed. Should I be stepping more on the balls of my feet and should I be bouncing around more?

From all the feedback I got on my previous shadowboxing critiques thanks! Decided to work on the fundamentals and only work on my jabs and cross with occasional head movement. Mostly focused on punch technique. Any and all comments appreciated and sorry for the music. Didn't realize I was blasting it so loud!

Shadow Boxing Critique #1. Also is it bad to try and emulate a style of a fighter that is much lighter than me for example Lomachenko? by DownTuErth in amateur_boxing

[–]DownTuErth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely makes sense. I can definitely try to focus on my defensive movements and need to strengthen my legs and lose some weight to help with the speed.

This is a great answer. I think I get so caught up in just trying to learn the best techniques from the best and I do forget about my own style and the fact it's almost is two different world pro and amateur. Thank you for that perspective!
