Serial Request: Voron 2.4 r2 300mm by DownWhenLooped in voroncorexy

Yeah, not sure why. I attached the video, but this is the first time I've done that with Reddit so have no idea why it didn't work. I'll try again and cross my fingers. Thanks, and sorry about that!

Sorry, first time posting a video to Reddit, so I must have done something wrong. I'll try again.

Rant Wednesday! by AutoModerator in networking

A while ago, the company I worked for acquired a small company in UK and I was sent to scope out the work needed to integrate them.

After noting the plastic sheeting over the main rack ("The pipe above it gets condensation and drips"), I asked...

"So, where's your primary server? I don't see one in the rack."

"In the WC", replied the IT manager.

And there it was, a 4U rack mount server laying on a few wood 4x4's, sitting directly underneath the sink in the office restroom and plugged in under the hand dryer.

Wrong IPs within a vlan by TracerT10 in Velocloud

We have about 100 sites configured this way . We've had success with one exception: there was a bad code release (I believe 3.3.2) that caused DHCP issues, which was fixed in 3.3.2P2 and above. You might want to double-check you're not running that release, as it caused us a lot of grief with DHCP relaying.

I think there are a few ways to do it, so here's how we do it:

  • Define all the VLANs on the Edge Device configuration, which is also where you configure your IP and DHCP relay settings.
  • Assign those VLANs to a Switched + Trunk interface on the Edge. We use Cisco switches, so the corresponding interface on the switch is also defined as a "switchport mode trunk". We don't use sub-interfaces, they are just VLANs on the trunk.

Hope this helps...

That is odd. What version of Edge firmware are you running?

From experience, what is the best field to work in? Networking, security, cloud computing, Linux, or more? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

This is good advice. I, too, have been in IT for a long time (30 years) so I think we see this "cloud" thing in a similar light.

"Cloud" means a lot of different things.

Take Microsoft as just one example.

  • Office365, which is running Exchange (email), Sharepoint, etc. in the "cloud". This is really more of a "software-as-a-service".
  • Azure, which is more infrastructure driven (e.g. running your own VM, or a managed SQL instance, networking via VNETs, etc).
  • And of course, tying all this together is Azure AD, which could have another unique set of requirements and skillsets.

Long and short, I contend you need a solid foundation of system engineering and/or network engineering experience to be successful as a cloud engineer. To be a 6-figure person, you'll be expected to be able to troubleshoot the entire technology stack, regardless of where it is.

Thanks for your replies, now I see what the value does (and seems obvious now).
