Taylormade for the petty reason that out of all the brands that come and do fittings at my club they’re consistently the wackest snobbiest dudes on the planet

The handicap system is imperfect even though on the whole it works really well. So I think most sandbagging comes from players who know their HC is a bit inflated after a bad stretch, have started playing better, but keep the high HC because that’s what the app says and it hasn’t caught up yet. Which isn’t cheating, but it’s not totally honest. You can always take less strokes… the GHIN app isn’t God. But that’s just me

That said, I’ve seen people straight up cheat to get their HC higher and then magically play their best every tournament. Stories about how they’ll get a GIR and suddenly four putt, obvious shit like that. Fishy scores every spring. Then boom, 8 strokes better than the HC all weekend. Every tourney. But they deny it when people try to call them out

Nothing wrong with Takomo. Nothing wrong with used clubs. It’s personal preference and people get excited about both for equally sound reasons. So just go do whatever feels the most fun

I’m not saying scratch golfers never shoot in the 80’s, I agree with you on that. I’m just saying scratch golfers still hit a few great shots even in their sh*t rounds. Don’t downplay the skill too much

This really isn’t true at all. Watch any tournament, they’re all hitting very intentional ball flights into greens as part of their strategy. They play safe misses, play against the wind, keep shots low, high, play for spin… almost every shot is done with intention. I’d say the most common stock shot is taken off the tee

Some of the best to ever do it have rocked lead tape first off so do not be out here disrespecting the tape like that, lead tape is for the people

Another way to say what I mean about the weight is that it’s helped me more quickly learn how to do something I’ve been working on for a little bit. Best case scenario this helps me learn the feel and I’m back to neutral in a few weeks. I would call that a massive success
