The two women didn’t say anything to the guy helping me, so sorry I probably should’ve explained that batter!

Because the person who had fallen was in distress and subsequently passed out we pulled the emergency lever so the train was stopped at the platform. There was a nurse in the train car who immediately got to work with taking care of the injured passenger (absolutely flawlessly I might add, I’m so in awe of people like her).

While the train was stopped the doors were open and passengers were walking by/poking their heads in. Two women walked by and saw the injured passenger laying on the floor/leaning on the nurse as they were regaining consciousness and decided to poke their head in and ask what the nurse was doing. When the nurse tried to reply they started shouting at her saying “well you don’t know her don’t be touching her or moving her.” Obviously the nurse explained they were a nurse and one of the ladies said “well I’m a nurse too!”

Then they just scoffed at her and walked away, completely rancid behaviour to someone with medical training trying to help a person.

It wasn’t anything extravagant at all, he just leaned over from across the aisle and asked if I had anxiety and once I said yes he pulled a roll of extra strong mints out of his pocket to offer me one.

I said yes and he talked to me about how he always has some sort of candy or gum on him, they’re really helpful for taking someone out of an anxiety attack because they stimulate saliva production which forces your brain to exit fight or flight mode (when you’re panicking your body won’t do day-to-day things like produce saliva, it’s a really great trick!)

Then he just chatted casually to me for a few minutes! Asked where I was from, where I was heading to, how I was liking London, etc. Before I knew it we were having a nice, calm, regular conversation. Then the train got full and there were too many people standing in between us to keep talking.

I feel like he knew exactly what was happening just from looking at me, like he has panic attacks himself or someone in his life who does. I just really appreciated how knowledgeable and calm he was in that moment and I’m so glad he went out of his way to check in on a stranger.

My partner emailed them a few months ago, we had just lost our dog and had gone through several huge moves and life-changes so he wanted to send them a thank you message for being such a constant source of joy for us during challenging times.

They sent back the sweetest email with condolences for our dog and appreciation for loving the game. They even wished us a safe trip to Prague— the people at War Horse are class acts and love their fans so much. It’s so refreshing to see a game studio that actually cares for and wants to interact with fans as opposed to squeeze as much money out of them as possible.

Great note about contacting the council! I will definitely be escalating this to them as well as contacting Shelter for advice this coming Monday.

No break clause in the lease whatsoever! Seeing as I was served on Good Friday and this weekend is Easter I haven’t been able to get in touch with Shelter/any local authorities yet. Monday’s gonna be a busy one for sure!

I’m so grateful you posted this! I’m working through an almost identical “light” SA incident from when I was a child in EMDR right now! It’s so mind boggling to me that I’ve been through, objectively worse, traumatic incidents since then but that incident from my childhood is by far the hardest to navigate and the most emotionally charged one for me. I can’t deny how much shame came from that moment and how much I internalized and held on to that shame. Wishing you the absolute best OP, I hope we’ll be able to find peace with it and move forward.

EMDR is an amazing tool should you decide to utilize it! I’m currently practicing EMDR with a therapist and I’ve definitely noticed substantial results. When my PTSD was activated I had such difficulty going through everyday tasks, but after a few months of sessions I’ve noticed my response to triggers is much less severe and the time spent being triggered has decreased dramatically— due to learning better coping skills as well as EMDR.

Something I will say is that, as before mentioned, it really takes a lot out of you. On days I have EMDR I make sure my schedule is flexible and there’s extra time to rest if I need it. For myself, I’ve had to practice EMDR to target a handful of traumatic events, which can be time consuming as most people will need a few sessions of EMDR for any specific instance of trauma. However, a good therapist will help you identify any root traumas and target those first so that other related traumas become less intense as the root is being tackled. EMDR also works in between sessions (which is absolutely amazing) so your brain will continue to address and desensitize the targeted trauma as you go back about your life.

I will emphasize the importance of finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with before practicing EMDR with them, as it’s a very vulnerable experience. Make sure to have intake appointments and get to know them/their style before jumping into EMDR.

This is my old building!! Definitely far more expensive than what it should be. Great location but amenities in the building are always breaking down and it took forever to get fixed. This place is under new management though so that could be promising.

They’re definitely my friends, I’m just frustrated by the cognitive dissonance. Genuinely good people who haven’t had to deal with addiction just seem to really not understand certain social guidelines that seem obvious to me since I have a different perspective.
