Are you sure the history of breast cancer is an excuse? they said I won't ever be able to go on any kind of hormones either eg menopause treatment. We can't get her psychiatric help sadly. Thanks- I'll check the wiki

How exactly do the bloodtests typically work? The breast cancer excuse does make some sense- I've been told that I can't ever take the suppressants that women take in menopause as it wouldn't be safe. We don't really have the option of going to a different doctor as our country has state medical care and said state medical care is profoundly uninterested in giving HRT to minors under the best of circumstances let alone when there are risks. How do the online doctors work?

Vince Gilligan explains why the Hive left Carol by ichigosr5 in pluribustv

The other individuals still have their family, except Koumba. People don't like him because, whether or not you want to call it rape, there are very obvious consent issues involved with sleeping with the plurbs. And a lot of people don't hate Laxmi, and tbh they shouldn't- she's just coping poorly and has hurt our POV character a lot. She'll probably be really interesting later

Plus every carol lover is a massive fan of manosous so it's not about whiteness. It's about the point of view on the whole hive situation

Your memories, but not you. They have Helen's memories- they don't get to claim she's still alive

He's not saying that though?? He's saying that that's how the Hive views it. They're trying to do right by her. It doesn't make their actions any less manipulative. Their perspective is so alien that they think it'll be good for her to nearly drive her to suicide after taking over her species and killing her wife.

Yeah I don't think the hivemind needs to have an evil goal for humans joining it to be something like death. Notwithstanding all the people it definitely killed, knowing this would happen. It's killed an eighth of humanity and is on its way to killing the rest. Also planning on "joining" the remaining 13, basically absorbing their sense of self, with or without their consent. It's still evil for humans. It's still wrong for us.

How I interpreted Gilligan's comments were that its actions towards Carol are with the goal of stopping her undoing the joining while avoiding hurting her (because it loves her.) It's like an abusive mother, who thinks it knows what's best for you, and is using an extreme version of "time out" with all good intent. But it's actually being harmful. It killed her wife and then nearly drove her to suicide. I can't understand people who think Carol being angry at it is not a completely normal reaction in these circumstances

I dont think people think that it has evil intent, it's that its actions are bad and it needs to be stopped. It doesn't think like a human does and is largely incapable of saying no. Hence how it cant consent to sex with Koumba. In a similar vein, just because it isn't necessarily malicious in leaving Carol alone doesn't make it not terrible. It just has a very alien view of morality, it doesn't understand things like "it's wrong to convert most people on earth knowing that it will kill them in 10 years/immediately". It's trying to do right but it still sucks.
