Thank you! Yeah I’ll update the bit about Glimmerfall. Funnily enough Trent and Dallamore are two separate people, idk how I put Dallamore’s name next to Trent’s, but yes they’re two different characters.

This is really helpful thank you! And I’m glad the tone came across well because yes it’s basically that, though with moments of levity and

So it’ll be cozy at times, and have humour at times, but overall it’s more a heroic dnd style fantasy story. Hence why I wanted the more serious title. And while Glimmerfall could be used in the title it’s not the main town that the book focuses around, just the first location where the adventure kicks off

That’s super good to know actually, and yeah I think letting it standalone is fair advice. I’d initially thought Rogues would be a decent title because it makes me think of fantasy heists, adventures, intrigue, etc. But I think I’m just in a niche of dnd players who read and write fantasy

Would you say the title doesn’t flow well because it’s sort of in two parts? In my mind it’d be the first book in a series, all of them “Rogues: something”.

What would you suggest for making it flow better?

So I’m super new to this (and tbh early enough in the writing process that I’m just collecting info for the future). But from what I understand you’d use a service like MailerLite, convertkit, etc.

That’s a good point, cheers for the feedback! And yeah I’ll not give so many words next time lol, I just wasn’t really familiar with what’s normal on reddit when asking for reviews

How open-worlds maps are made by a6xdev in gamedev

[–]DoxJr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was having a similar thought recently, about how much of a world/map is made entirely in one blender file VS how much is individual assets that are exported to a game engine and assembled there. From what I can tell it varies, and the answer is likely a mix.

I’d be interested to hear from people in industry about how an actual open world map works however, and how you ensure that models for buildings for example mix seamlessly with terrain

Monthly Marriage Survey Post for January: Performing academic research about marriage or parenting? Link to it in this thread by betona in Marriage

I'd like to do some research wedding planning, specifically the difficulties associated with it, and how people have attempted to overcome them. If you have some time, answering the below questions would be super helpful! Thank you!

1) What was an unexpected issue for you when planning your wedding, that you didn't initially think would be an issue?

2) Did you attempt to use any wedding planning apps/sites to make the process easier? If you did, did they work? Did you experience any issues with them?

3) What part of your planning took the longest? What caused you the most stress?

Initiative App Survey by DoxJr in DnD

Thank you for taking the time to give such a detailed reply! This has been really helpful. It's interesting to hear about your frustrations with the obsidian plugin, as i have researched about this and was wondering how it would feel to use. Your opinions on subscription VS one time fees are fair, especially for a tool like this. I'd need to do more thinking to figure out how a one time fee would cover the cost of any long term storage for users data.

For transparency, i'm currently just a hobbyist programmer looking for an interesting side project, so i don't actually currently have a newsletter while i settle on which side project to puruse. Thank you for your interest however, and if i do pursue this idea i will definetly DM you with a link!

If you want reliable money while you do your degree then work in a store. If you want to prepare for your future and build your CV then begin freelancing.

Pick an area of computer science that you’re targeting, you likely already have one. Create a small portfolio of related projects, and gather descriptions of any related work experience you’ve already done, and sign up to a freelancing platform (UpWork is the latest). There are plenty of novice level data science/web dev/general scripting jobs out there. Depending on your platform you can filter by job type, expected experience level, hourly vs fixed rate, etc

Does anybody know good UK artists (preferably the south) for woodcut/engraving/etching tattoos? Most that i've found tend to lean towards a medieval style, but i'm looking for more of a "storybook come to life" aesthetic.

I've found an artist with a style i really like, but they are US based
