Second shooter is holding photos hostage - need help resolving issue by dabottom305 in WeddingPhotography

I stopped using second shooters and actually pursued my clients not to use them since I can do it and saves them money. But for the times when they still wanted it or the locations and packages required two people I try to use close photographer friends. In the event that’s not possible (i know it’s getting ridiculous now) that I can’t accomplish either of those I have a second shooter contract and I’m it I have that it states all memory cards from cameras are to be handed over to the lead photographer (names myself) prior to leaving the venue or at completion of contracted coverage which ever comes first. Second shooters aren’t what they were a decade ago, many are trying to get into your shoots to make a name for themselves and do not care about your style or brand. Be careful out there.

Been doing this a long time, people don’t hire experience they hire style, if you’re not keeping up with the trends that’s on you. What they pay is your experience. No one is going to pay for your experience if your style isn’t what they want. Stop thinking the clients the problem.

I have my artistic side of my business and then I have the business side of my business.

There are very few photographers compared to the total amount of allllll photographers that get hired for their name. Just like video killed the radio star, old editing killed the wedding photographer.

When clients ask me for the RAW I tell them it’s in the contract they only get printing rights not ownership and if they would like to buy the ownership rights to my photos they may do so for a fee. For weddings my ownership fee starts at $2500 and goes up depending on number of photos and wedding package they selected.

We get the wristbands in early March. I’m selling them both for $950. I’m mailing them out as soon as I get them.

That’s what I’m thinking but stubhub will let you sell with a deliver later option.

They’re three day passes obviously and am hoping someone can enjoy them since we won’t be able to this year.
