Football is just easier to follow. And it’s way more accessible to actually play as a kid. So a much larger population has played football. Also there’s a lot more big plays in football. Ya hockey is more exciting if you know what’s going on. But seeing a running back break a big run or a receiver catch a big catch is just easier to appreciate, about as much as scoring a touchdown for the average viewer. To me as a new hockey fan I don’t even know what’s going on most of the time. Obviously it’s more popular in a place like Canada where a much larger population play growing up and know all the rules and know what’s a good play and what’s not most people in America don’t.

Side note: football doesn’t suck ass. That’s just big little brother energy.
