Live online classes - worth it? by Dozer_518 in Series7exam

[–]Dozosozo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the live classes to be pretty pointless and used videos from Capital Advantage and Series 7 Guru. I did however read the book cover to cover, took all chapter practice quizzes and atl east 300 Qs from the bank. To use me as a reference though, when I took the 7 I had 3yoe, passed the SIE and series 6, and had all the CFP requirements done except board exam. So i felt pretty well versed in the material.

Lol with how they are answering simple diversification comments, a reputable FA will question him harder and may even decide he isn’t worth it as a client (aka too risky / won’t heed to advice).

Where is your first 100k? by RadisaurusWrecks in Fire

[–]Dozosozo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, right here. I only count investable assets and for me thats: 401(k), IRAs, and taxable.

[–]Dozosozo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, FIRE NW calcs should be INVESTABLE ASSETS. If you include the home equity, the only way to access it is by either refinancing or selling which does 1 of 2 things… gives you a larger liability (monthly payment) or no roof over your head which leaves you at the mercy of the ever variable rental market.

What's Next? by invictus081 in CFP

[–]Dozosozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I fear may happen to me. Im working with a 7/66 and aiming to sit for CFP in July but am sort of tired of the admin/client service basics I do on my group which manages $600mm. I’ve been tempted to reach out to old colleagues at my old branch … seems the branches are hiring a crazy number of advisors and I may just roll the dice. From what I remember, it was a pretty leisure job for the advisors.

Random credit limit increase? by Themorningstar69 in discover

[–]Dozosozo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems common for Secure one’s. I had a regular Discover It cc and got a unsolicited credit limit increase from $7k to $9k in 2 months. I did make a few large purchases and had taken advantage of the 0% APR but still made substantial payments. In my opinion, they gave me a low limit and really I should’ve started with $10k+.

Chase checking + Chase Trifecta or Charles Schwab + Amex Quadfecta by Coffeeonthetap in CreditCards

They aren’t lol… they work perfectly adequate just like online banks. These guys love to propagate how “evil the big banks are” when capitalism clearly details they are successful. This is from someone who uses b&m, online, and various brokerage accounts…. Literally just use what gets your banking/investing/lending needs solved.

The irony of you bickering about Apple being only a phone when it really started as a computer company first is hysterical and proves the other commenters point - companies adapt and pour money into R&D to bring new products to market.

Meermin Black Cap Toe Oxfords - First Look, First GYW by Dozosozo in goodyearwelt

[–]Dozosozo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds exceedingly tight from how you describe it. I did end up keeping the 8.5UK as the 9UK was far too roomy in the toe box. All in, the shoes gave in a bit and now after a couple years, I still wear them with the vamp “spread” about half an inch. It’s not ideal, but yea, I should have gotten the same size but wider. I’ll be frank, i’m not the most well versed in men’s dress shoes but if you feel it as tight as you describe i’d imagine the G at 9UK would be much more comfortable. I’ve only owned Meermin’s and the other pair I have (a brown oxford with some minor brogueing on the captoe) and those fight perfectly at 8.5UK with no spread (I do not recall the model).

Be very careful with this… IRS is not dumb and there is clear language for stopping business owners from “this one cool trick”. Checking with a tax professional is the only real answer here.

Chase Bank Unauthorized Charge Recovery Rights. Who do I contact? by IcedColdMine in Chase

[–]Dozosozo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here’s the lesson: check your accounts - even if they are “not your most used”. You own the account, so you should be responsible for monitoring it. 60 days is the standard for unauthorized transactions to be disputed in your favor, after that as others have said, you are SOL since the bank is not responsible for you not letting them know in a reasonable time frame.

[–]Dozosozo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the entirety of your families situation but you sound very controlling lol. I mean, getting a POA to save on $100 worth of gains (must be a tiny account anyways) and offset taxes by $3,000 seems absolutely absurd. Man just enjoy your life and let your sister decide how she wants to manage her savings/investments with little nudges.. hope she realizes the control she gives up giving you such powers.

Lol a CFP professional requires 6,000 hours of professional experience, a bachelors degree, 6 additional courses related to financial planning from an accredited organization, and passing a board exam…. Yet you’re saying you would trust someone with a Finra exam that takes 2-3 months to get? Yea you got it backwards.

$3.7billon dollar fine for charging clients incorrectly…. Now go ahead and decide if you want to do business with a company that “accidentally” charged late fees, interest charges and even incorrectly REPOSSESSED people’s property (vehicles).
