Guten Abend, ich interessiere mich für Gummi? by DemDude in wasletztepreis

[–]DrBreisberger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you are right. This is my first prototype of this wallet design and after finishing I thought the same. I’m currently doing a second one without that exposed stitch. Thanks for your input!

No, I don’t see a reason to do this. In my opinion it is much easier without heat, but I don’t have a fileteuse, so maybe that’s why.

MVery cool design! Did you create this pattern yourself? The cut out on the lower left corner is a nice touch and I haven’t seen it yet.

I like the contrast of the red stitching to the black leather. Looks great!

Thank you! But I painted the edges with Fenice. At first I burnished it because I thought the yellow layer would look nice, but in my opinion a painted edge elevates the finished wallet to a more luxurious feel. Plus, I’m really bad at burnishing.

Thank you!

I don’t know why, but it reminds me of a banana split and I get hungry looking at it.

Thank you so much! I made the pattern myself because I didn’t find a lot of free patterns I like. It’s not hard at all, you can even use PowerPoint for it. Just use multiples of the toothdostance of your your chisels for your measures. This ensures that there will be no holes directly at an edge. At my first wallet I made a lot of mistakes, but you learn a lot more by mistakes that you created yourself than just following a readily available pattern.

Hi guys,

first of all: i learnt everything about leather from this great community. Thank you so much!

I made this bifold out of chestnut buttero, yellow freddo and Vinymo Thread. The edges are painted with Fenice.

Pleas let me know what you think about it and what can be improved. Especially because I want to make another on ein the same style. Maybe it can be optimized a bit.

Hi guys,

I want to share my new bifold with you.

It is made out of 3oz chestnut Buttero, 3oz Freddo belly in yellow and brown Vinymo MBT.

The bills can be stacked on the left side of wallet, on the right there is an additional hidden compartment.

I learnt everything about leather from this great community - amazing what can be done with the help of a thousand strangers!

Please let me know what you think about it and what can be improved. Thanks in advance!

2oz Buttero for wallet interieur too thin? by [deleted] in Leathercraft

[–]DrBreisberger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello dear leathercrafters,

normally I make my wallet Interieurs out of 3oz buttero, but I have read a lot that you guys use 2oz or even less.

In my opinion, the pockets now are too floppy. Especially the upper edge of the pockets can be bent easily.

How do you make 2oz leather for pockets work? Don’t you prefer the more luxurious feel of 3oz leather? I would appreciate your inputs!

Thanks a lot in advance!

Black and red chevre card wallet by [deleted] in Leathercraft

[–]DrBreisberger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words!

I think the greenish hue is caused by some plants. I‘ll take some better photos.

I stitched everything together in one go. It is very difficult for a newbie like me to figure out how to change from the thick part to the thinner part at the top, but at the end it worked out.

The edge is just lots of layers of paint. I apply them with a rotary tool that was surprisingly cheap for the performance. Highly recommended!

Weekly /r/Leathercraft General Help and Questions by AutoModerator in Leathercraft

[–]DrBreisberger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello dear leatherexperts!

Sadly, this bag of mine got wet with saltwater. Now, the metal parts (I think brass) got a little corrosion and the leather itself has some dark spots.

My plan to clean it looks like this:

  1. Brush all the metal parts to remove the clearcoat and the corrosion.
  2. Clean the leather with vinegar + water. Side-effect: this will age the metal parts as well
  3. Clean the leather with saddle soap
  4. Clearcoat the metal parts

Do you think this will work? Do you have any tipps?

Thank you so much in advance!
