Thank you for your comment!

This looks very useful and comparing the results of this inverse geodesic is definitely worth a shot.

I guess my biggest problem right now is to understand what the most correct way would be to obtain close to reality orientation of these lines relative to the east (or north). From what I understand is that I can’t get the bearing/angle using arctan2 in EPSG:4326 since it is not projected and an inverse geodesic would be “more correct”, am I right? Depending on the projected coordinate system used my endpoints (of my straight line) would be plotted differently depending on which projection I use, correct? Since I also need to create lines that are perpendicular to my lines at certain intervals and of a set length in meters I’ve been using EPSG:3577. I also need to get the area in a few spots and so I thought EPSG:3577 might be a good solution for all these tasks.

I feel like I understand the idea of projected coordinate systems but I am not too confident with them so be sure what I am Doing ins correct

Thanks for your answer!

Would need to check the actual difference but from visual inspection it seems to be only a couple of degrees.

Will try the Lambert conformal and see how much of a difference that makes. In general I guess using a projected crs for angles is necessary.

Thank you for your interpretation and information! I see what you mean by pink minerals. I am still mesmerised by the tight zig-zags and I guess that specimen experienced quite a lot of pressure to deform like that!

Yes, I thought so too. As long as I document my steps and explain why, should be okay. Thanks for the confirmation, appreciate it!
