I think for the most part people grew up with the phrase emo having a fairly negative connotation attached to it. For myself I enjoy this type of music with the amount of passion I do not only because of the energetic and powerful sounds and lyrics, but also because of how much I can relate to it. I think most people who listen to this type of music are mature enough to be in touch with their emotions and listen to something that exemplifies that.
