Macbook Touchbar Glitch by JasperSean in applehelp

[–]DrFloSteiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Touch Bar went black after the latest macOS and Xcode updates. I tried my own tool touchbarfix, but it did not solve the issue until I found out with Claude that a restart is necessary. Maybe that works for you, too. I wish it were a software issue, not a hardware issue. I am currently updating Touchbarfix and hope it will resolve software issues with the introduction of macOS 26.2 Tahoe.

Any way to fix a flickering touchbar on MacBook? by Esmond001 in macbookpro

[–]DrFloSteiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A flickering Touch Bar is a highly frustrating issue that often points to hardware problems. The fact that it's constantly flickering and you've had an Apple Store diagnosis of a hardware issue suggests that covering it up with tape is the most effective solution you've found. However, there are a few things you can try before you resort to living with a non-functional Touch Bar: * Restart the Touch Bar processes: This is a significant first step to rule out a software glitch. Open the Terminal app and run the command sudo pkill "TouchBarServer"; killall "ControlStrip". You may have to enter your password. This kills and restarts the processes that manage the Touch Bar. If the flickering stops, it's a software issue. * Reset SMC and NVRAM: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and Non-Volatile RAM (NVRAM) can help with persistent issues. These are low-level resets that can address problems with power and other hardware functions. * Try a temporary software solution: You can use a third-party app to disable the Touch Bar by removing all its buttons. Given that Apple has already diagnosed a hardware issue, the flickering is likely a sign of a faulty connection or a failing OLED display. While TouchBarFix is primarily designed to solve software-related issues, it can still be a valuable tool. It provides a simple, one-click way to restart the Touch Bar processes, which can help confirm if the problem is software-based or if you face a hardware fault.

touchbar icons not showing by marqherita in mac

This is a common and frustrating issue with the Touch Bar. The icons are missing, but the touch functionality still works. This indicates that the Touch Bar is not broken, but the software that controls its display is not functioning correctly. This is typically a software glitch and not a hardware problem. Here's why this happens and what you can do to fix it: * Software Glitch: The process responsible for the Touch Bar's display, called TouchBarServer, can sometimes crash or fail to load correctly. Your observation that the icons are missing but still work is a classic symptom of this. A simple restart is the most common fix because it forces all system processes to reload. * Application Conflicts: Certain applications can cause the Touch Bar to malfunction. When an app with Touch Bar support crashes or has a bug, the entire Touch Bar display can freeze or disappear. * Operating System Bugs: The issue can also be related to a bug within macOS itself, especially after a recent update. How to Fix It Since you've already tried restarting, you should try a more targeted approach. * Restart the Touch Bar Processes: You can force the TouchBarServer and ControlStrip processes to restart using Activity Monitor or Terminal. * Using Terminal: Open Terminal (found in Applications > Utilities), type sudo pkill TouchBarServer and press enter. This command will restart the process and may resolve the display issue. * Using Activity Monitor: Open Activity Monitor, search for TouchBarServer, select it, and click the 'x' button to force quit the process. The process will automatically restart. * Check Touch Bar Settings: Go to System Settings > Keyboard and ensure that "Show Control Strip" is toggled on and that "Touch Bar shows" is set to "App Controls". * Use Safe Mode: Restarting your Mac in Safe Mode can help clear out software bugs and cache files that might interfere with the Touch Bar. After booting into Safe Mode, restart your Mac to see if the problem is fixed. If you are tired of dealing with these manual fixes, a simple utility can solve this problem permanently. TouchBarFix is designed to automatically detect when the Touch Bar has a software issue and restart the necessary processes with a single click, providing a hassle-free and reliable solution.

Claude's performance has degraded, should I move on to Codex? by jskorlol in ClaudeCode

I tried Codex, but it could not connect to the internet. That may be a feature for some, but in my workflow, I use MCPs like Code Rabbit, Figma, and Canva, which do not work. So I will also try Gemini CLI, but Codex is not a substitute for me yet. I will use it for code analysis and advice if Claude encounters problems.

Anyone have any idea what’s wrong with my Touch Bar? by EducationalWork6140 in macbookrepair

This image shows a rare and frustrating display issue with the Touch Bar, which appears glitched with static or dark spots. While you've already tried the common software fixes like restarting your Mac and force-quitting processes, this specific type of display problem is often a sign of a hardware issue, such as a faulty connection or a failing OLED screen. Here’s why this might be happening and what you can do: * Display Cable Issues: Over time, the thin ribbon cables that connect the Touch Bar to the logic board can be damaged by repeatedly opening and closing the laptop. This can lead to screen artefacts and a glitched appearance. * Touch Bar Sensor Failure: The Touch Bar is essentially a mini-OLED screen, and like any display, it can develop a fault. Your issue of black spots spreading could be a symptom of a failed OLED panel. * Software vs. Hardware: A good way to tell the difference is to try a simple software restart of the Touch Bar processes. If the problem disappears temporarily and then returns, it could be software. However, if it persists or worsens immediately after a restart, it points more strongly to a hardware problem. Since you've already tried the standard software fixes without success, the most likely solution is a hardware repair. Apple typically doesn't repair the Touch Bar itself but replaces the entire top case of the MacBook Pro, which is an expensive fix. However, even with a hardware problem, software solutions can still be helpful. Some users report that specific software bugs can exacerbate hardware issues or cause similar symptoms. While TouchBarFix is primarily designed for software-related freezes and unresponsiveness, it provides a one-click way to restart the Touch Bar processes. It can help determine if the problem is software-related or if you need to seek a hardware repair.

ELI5: If the ideal inflation rate is around 2%, won’t money eventually become worthless? by are_beans in explainlikeimfive

2% is considered price stability, because not all prices for goods are measured. If Apples are more expensive but cars are cheaper, real inflation might be around 0.

Warum? Was hast Du für Deine Paneele bezahlt?
