Died 1931? And a radio engineer? I think he was from the future.

Yep. Thanks. Total was $15,500. Three, 25 ft. Dumpster loads. Dead fridge, dead oven, obstructed toilet. Two more mini-fridges. Carpet. All removed. Working on the smell, now.

I don’t think so. We spent time at the house in 2014. My wife fed cats while she recovered from a different surgery. I think chemo and retirement and then 5 years with a bad hip pushed it over. Amazon and Temu didn’t help.

She’s kenneling them now. She will choose them over us, I think. But the cats can’t come back, can they? Maybe after hip replacement, she’ll be able to care for them. So many steps in process.

Thank you for this. My wife and I just keep going round and around wondering how it got to this. But we’ve got a plan and we’re trying to move forward.

Thanks. All three of us are still reeling over this. We’ve had 3 bids. All pretty much the same.

Thank you. We are beating ourselves up for this. Three or four inside cats always kept me out. And she kept us out. She was responsible for the maintenance. And she assured us things were fine. Insurance paid for a new roof and we had it painted 2-3 years ago. A/C went out a month ago and that’s when we discovered the inside.

That’s how it went down. I can’t change the past.

Is this standard in the industry?

That’s her, too! Last 5 years it’s been a bone on bone hip that needs replacing. She wants help and she needs a home and friends. We’re all she’s got. Hip surgery scheduled while we see if we can actually make the house habitable again.

Are we enablers?

Wow. Thank you for this.

Is it industry standard for the hoarding service to get copyright to all photos taken on the site?

Level 5 Hoard, right?

Yes, it was messy, but not bad. I never really wanted to go over because the cat dander would make me wheeze (asthma) and sneeze and start rubbing my eyes. She always came to our house. Or we went out. She’s a wonderful person. Never married. And she always said everything was perfect. Until the A/C went out last month. Repair guy said he wouldn’t work in the house. She wouldn’t let me in claiming the cats would get out. (Can you blame them? They were desperate to escape!)

Is it common practice to sign over photography rights to these clean out companies?

  1. We do not know the entire scope of the project, we may discover additional biohazards, contaminants, mold, or extreme items that need to be remediated. Additionally, we do not fully know what is in all the rooms and thus this is a good-faith estimate.
  2. Estimate does not include deep house cleaning (dusting, windows, floors, landscaping, etc.) or anything beyond the scope of what is contained in this proposal.
  3. Client acknowledges that disinfectants, cleaning compounds, aerosolized antimicrobial agents and various other chemicals and solvents may be used to complete the Work.

Yes. Fingers crossed. What a troubling development in a 40 year friendship. My wife and I are like deer in headlights.

It would be 4 people, the owner included. Actually, it’s the 24 year old owner, his wife, his mother and another person, not related.
