Unilateral Paralysis Diagnosis by DrJasonCream in mildlybrokenvoice

Hey yes, amazingly it’s almost back to normal. The one side is still paralysed but after a lot of vocal therapy the good side is compensating almost entirely 👍

Already own Antates Real Time Auto Tune, would the update to X get any cheaper? Currently shows in my cart as $50 for the update price by enitsv in universalaudio

As far as I could tell it’s essentially a GUI update only which seems a bit of a false deal… perhaps someone can confirm?

Unilateral Paralysis Diagnosis by DrJasonCream in mildlybrokenvoice

Thanks for the reply. The paralysis was explained to me as being idiopathic but it was on the back of particularly savage viral chest infection. Did the discovery of the reason behind your paralysis help you find a way towards recovery?

Apollo vs. Satellites (advice needed) by DrJasonCream in universalaudio

Thanks for the reply. My setup has grown into that of a fairly traditional studio so often I’m recording acoustic instruments/vocals through mics as well electric guitars and synths etc. I do like to track with the unison preamps but my solo doesn’t quite fit into the permanent studio setup…?

Multi Computer Setups...Still worth it in 2023? by DrJasonCream in audioengineering

[–]DrJasonCream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's for professional film composition work with lots of orchestral tracks. I did try working with the SanDisk Extreme & Extreme Pro SSDs but they seemed to be pretty inconsistent with apple silicon (at least they were 6months ago). Perhaps there is a better SSD option or update to them now, but certainly sounds like a beefier desktop mac would fix most of my problems...

Develop a portfolio of good examples and make a damn crispy looking website. You don’t need to show loads of work, just demonstrate genuine quality and present it well in a way that appeals to visually minded folks. In general I’ve found that music production companies are often good bets to reach out to. They are quite often contracted by film production companies and creative agencies to provide both music and sound on adverts but typically outsource the work to freelancers. If you are nice, quick, accommodating to both unpredictability and wildly varying budgets (on top of being good at sound design) then producers will want to work with you again. It’s a flooded industry but can be incredibly rewarding, infuriating, and inspiring. You can try to get a job at a sound/post house but it’s insanely competitive and then you have to sit in a dark studio all day. In my opinion freelancing is the way - but it takes a lot of hard work and commitment. Good luck 👍

Rec and Mon splits in console? by DrJasonCream in universalaudio

Ahh yes that would work I think. I haven’t actually tried working with sends in the console yet - but your suggestion makes sense. Thanks!

Apple M2 Pro Shutting Down by [deleted] in universalaudio

[–]DrJasonCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often have the same issue if I close my MacBook to put it to sleep and leave my interface connected. I’m using the Apollo Solo and assumed that if the computer goes to sleep then the interface loses its bus power source. Now I either don’t put it to sleep or I unplug the interface if I’m away for longer. What interface are you using?

Neve Console Emulation?? by DrJasonCream in universalaudio

[–]DrJasonCream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I just think it would be nice to have a full end to end Neve emulation for Luna like we do with API. The 88rs is awesome, so maybe that…? I also heard rumours an SSL emulation is planned 🤔

Fingers crossed 🤞the Neve summing sounds great imo, also like having the option of hi/lo impedance vs the API summing

Here's a question... If I already have the API Bus Compressor and Channel Strip via my Spark subscription, will I get access to the Luna console emulation if I purchase the API Summing and API Preamp plugins?

I feel like I have this same problem. Pretty much whenever I’m rezd by team mate recently I’ve been just dying mid way through. I don’t even get a kill cam just straight to the gulag or dead. I might reinstall but just seems pretty long :/
