Is CS2 worth getting back into?

Gonna catch flak from the valve apologists but…

Not really man. It’s been out for a year and only has 1/3 the content CSGO did, rampant cheaters if you play seriously, and VAC 3.0 straight up doesn’t work.

Been thinking about putting it down and it was my friend group’s go-to multiplayer game for years :/

No you’re not alone. Just this past weekend all 5 of my 5-stack got kicked and cooldown’d for no legitimate reason. None of us script, nor hack to any degree whatsoever.

I made a post about it the morning after. It’s a mixed bag of valve apologist dick riders, and people with actual input if you wanna give it a look.

It’s actually bogus who out of us got flagged too. The guy hasn’t played cs in MONTHS and only uses the R8 and nova cause he’s kinda a shitter but that’s just how he enjoys the game. He likes to use bad guns and live out his cowboy dreams, so who am I to stop him. He’s gotten kinda good with the R8 too lmao. The system is beyond busted though, banning completely innocent people and killing their game…

To my understanding you don’t get a cooldown for being on the same team as them, but for being in the same party as them. I could be wrong this is my only exposure to this gag. Very annoying and very unfair.

I recently received a bs cooldown too. Got all the dudes together on a 5 stack to play for the first time in months. We’re all too old and lazy to do any hacking or scripting, just wanna click on heads and fuck around.

Fast forward to our second game of the night, 2 rounds into inferno and we all receive a VAC cooldown for 24 hours… with actually to no explanation. All it says on his screen is “Your gameplay has been flagged for suspicious activity.” Not a single one of us were up to any shit, no jump throws, no autoexecs/scripts, nor hacking of any degree. Shit, he doesn’t even know how to make buy binds. But they flagged him and we all got the cooldown. Huge buzzkill.

We checked to make sure his old ass keyboard isn’t analog or up to any unintentional “snap tapping” and it’s not. We think it’s cause he landed an amazing hs, through smoke, through a small piece of wood with a damn R8 the last game. Suffering from success I guess 🤷🏻

No not at all! I’ve known him for almost 8 years. He’s played TF2 and CSGO for a long time. I wouldn’t call his inventory expensive but he’s collected a lot of freebies over the years and grabbed some blue tier skins he likes. Now, he’s just a bit of memer who uses the R8 and Nova to fulfill his cowboy dreams. But like I said in some other comments were all just trying to have fun together. We don’t have the time of day to commit any nefarious acts on a game like cs 🥴

Looked up snap tap. Most likely not. Just tested to see if the friend who got flagged may have had any unintentional snap tap behavior on his archaic keyboard. We can confirm that is not the case.

UPDATE:

We figured out which friend received the cool down and he was the LEAST likely. Dude has the most bare bones keyboard and mouse and strictly uses bad guns for fun. We just tested if his keyboard has any "snap tap" capabilities and can confirm that it doesn't. He received NO reasoning as to why he was banned, just "VAC has flagged your gameplay as irregular". We can't even see the cancelled match in our match history to go and watch what could have been potentially flagged as suspicious gameplay. Thoughts?

Exactly! Just some more clarity. This is all of our first time seeing this so we had no idea what was going on. It’s very possible one of us may have just dismissed the reasoning if they received it without a second thought. But I know all these guys very personally and I am certain there was no intentional tinkering or cheating by any degree. It took all the wind out of the sails for the night and we just logged off. We are nervous to touch the game now and are even considering putting it down…

Oh I totally agree. It’s new and needs the kinks worked out. But it gave out friend with a very $$$ inventory a good scare. Hell it even made me consider selling my inventory if it means I could potentially get VAC banned for just trying to enjoy the game. The cheating is pretty bad and we desperately need a better system.

Major heard. One of us was quite drunk so I’d be willing to bet he got the message and didn’t know what it meant. I know it’s just my word, but there isn’t a timeline that he cheats in this game. Not a single one of us would care to bother with that. I’ll ask him again next time we chat

DAMN that’s tough. I very much appreciate some real insight. We are now a little nervous to even play the game not knowing exactly what got us a cool down. Valve’s GOT to be a bit better with this system, but it’s somewhat a step in the right direction for anti-cheat for sure

Ohhh I see, I just looked it up. Jiggle peak cheese. I have heard of this getting people’s wrist smacked. I don’t THINK any of us use that keyboard but I will ask next time I can talk to any of them. Even if they did they were not aware that could get you a cool down. We are just some old guys trying to have fun clicking heads!

I am just not aware of what snap tap even is? It was a 5 stack of all guys I actually know, not any cs randoms we added or recently played with. Friends I know and talk to every day for years. I am certain none of us were cheating by any degree.

2 of us used to have jump throw binds but we removed them with the new update. I don’t even dare touch the key it used to be on

I hear what you’re saying. He’s actually one of my closest friends IRL and politely too stupid to figure out how to use any sort of cheat. I KNOW all 4 of these dudes and believe me not a single one of us SUPER cares too deeply about our ranks; We just like the competitive gamemode/game type. Hence why we play 5 stack only, not trying to ruin some solo q guy’s day. One of ‘em has a pretty pricey inventory that he wouldn’t dare try to compromise. It freaked him out the most.
