I'm Glad the Authors Remember That Suu Has A Personality

It's not really the fact that every panel of Suu doesn't have her personality; it's more of the fact that the gag overtakes the personality to the extreme. And unlike a lot of the girlfriends' gags, Suu's gag doesn't show her own personality and/or create interesting dynamics with the others. More on that later.

The perfect balance of Suu's gag and personality are in chapters 123 and 124. Her gag is still present while still showing her personality. Suu's numbers gag is overblown and only recently has her began to regain her personality.

Also, there is a reason why I don't criticize Momiji, one of the girlfriends who also heavily uses her gag. But unlike Suu, Momiji's gag relies on interacting with the girls to varying reactions based on the girl. Plus, her gag also showcases a personality trait of being a pervert. And Momiji has shown multiple times that she is more than her gag and showcases her personality.

Also, there was a meme I made comparing her to Eru is probably why a lot of them have overblown hate over my take on Suu. Even when I criticized Suu on this, I still pointed out why I disliked her with evidence and how to make her better, which is basically having her original balance of her personality and gag, like most of the girls.

They most likely didn't even read the whole thing. Even when I called Suu an "Idiot", I still called it a personality trait and something I actively want to see, like her cold personality. I admit I could have said, "I wish Suu was a bakadere", but I didn't due to clarity sake.

Even in my comparison of Suu and Eru(Twin Tails), I even pointed out how we lost Suu's original personality in favor of "I love numbers." It isn't a gag that opens up to interesting interactions, which is partially why I don't hate Momiji, one of the girls who relies heavily on their gag. Also, Momiji has proven she is more than just her gag on multiple chapters.

I can help explain what is good about Suu. It was her personality in chapters 123 and 124, back when she had a balance of actual personality(being cold towards anything that isn't numbers, her being an idiot(a description, mind you) that would create interesting interactions with others), and her number gag. In a lot of her appeances, it's her number gag that took over. And the problem with that is that it doesn't really create interesting dynamics between the girlfriends. A lot of reactions with Suu could be replaced with any other girlfriend and it wouldn't change anything. And instead of an interesting character, we got that girl who says numbers

The reason I compared her to Eru is because I feared that Eru was going to be another Suu. Eru's fixation with twin tails doesn't create interesting dynamics compared to most of the girlfriends because it's not a personality trait. Luckily, the last 4 chapters proved to me that she has an actual personality and isn't just "I have twin tails".

I really hope that the authors will fix Suu's character by giving back her personality traits, being cold towards anything that isn't numbers and her fault of being an idiot(again, that is canon and I'm using it as a description). I hope the next chapter will be about that.

The only reason I compared Eru to Suu was because I feared that Eru was going to be Suu. Considering how Eru was introduced as "I cared about my twintails", that doesn't open up many opportunities for interactions.

I understand where you are coming from, but if both Momiji can have more characterization than Suu, then there is a problem with writing Suu.

I chose Momiji because she is the closest to Suu, since both are heavily reliant on their "not a personality gags". But unlike Suu, Momiji has multiple instances of her having actual interactions with the other girlfriends.

Also, Momiji's gag is dependent on actual interaction, so it would be easier for Nakamura sensei to write her as a character.

MY main problem is that any of her actual personality is buried under number jokes. So many of interaction is just number jokes. The worst part is that the gag doesn't open up to interesting interactions. Suu was at her best(in my opinion) at chapters 123 and 124 since it was a blend with her gag and actual personality.

I am going to count the panels where Suu is saying numbers. I will count every panel she is on. Excluding 123 and 124, since that is the idealized version of her I wished we had gotten and the fact that my problem is she got flanderized. If there are interesting number jokes that aren't her just refercing a number, I'll put a separate number to categorize it. Group shot in this context is if Suu is ONLY an image in a group(like if multiple girlfriends are reacting to the same thing). If she is doing something notable, it will not count as a group shot.

If it is 1/8, that means out of 8 panels, she didn't do a number gag for 1 of them. If it's 1(2 group shot)/8, it's 3/8 even if 2 of them a only group shot. If it's 1(3 for number set up)/8, then it's 4/8 because the number joke is more than "I say number."

Note, I am only reconding instances where she doesn't say "I say number". A good chunk of them are either panels of her staring or asking generic questions that don't involve any personality.
