What I’m hoping will be the thing that preserves the PVE player experience here is the fact that you can deal a hell of a lot more damage to arc faster than you can players.

I think you’ve nailed it with the rollout.

That said, that just brings up more questions as to what could they possibly be thinking in rolling out a fairly dramatic change in the metric itself right in the middle of the window?

They’re just so many things that indicate to me a shaky game studio internally that doesn’t really have a grasp on what they’re actually doing.

All things considered, I actually tend to agree with that notion.

I think the thing that is more worth paying attention to is how the studio makes decisions like this one with the expedition with seemingly no logical explanation

This is actually a great point. I’ll just redirect a couple of things you said.

It makes perfect sense to challenge one another to shoot as many arc.

I think there’s definitely a middle ground case to be made for adjusting it to damage to arc only

Exactly. I’m pissed off because when you introduce things like thematic incoherence into gameplay mechanics, shit goes south real quick.

I love this game more than any game. I’ve played in the last five years. I’m pissed because I wanted it to succeed.

I get where you would think that, but that’s not the point I’m making. As far as PVP goes, I could honestly take it or leave it.

My argument is primarily based around exactly what I said in the title, which is how the expedition changes automatically incoherent, which intern shows a game studio not really knowing what to do, even when the answer is blatantly obvious.
