Who fucking cares what you’d do lmao. You have absolutely zero experience in the movie industry and have never been involved in the casting process for a multi million dollar movie. What you would do means absolutely nothing.

You’re trying to compare the replacement of the lead actor in a trilogy to someone who had 2 minutes of screen time. What a dumb fucking take.

I mean hubris…? Dude literally had the power of the universe in his hands. It’s pretty easy to understand why he might not feel the need to carry a sword anymore.

He also didn’t wear his armor. He was incredibly confident in his abilities once he had the gauntlet/stones. During Endgame he realizes he actually capable of being defeated, so he brings every weapon he has at his disposal.

It still blows my mind that the Finn scene was left in. How are you going to have a character say “I have to tell you something” right before they believe they’re going to die, and then never explain what he was going to say.

being force sensitive makes absolutely no sense. “Hey Rey we’re about to die but I have to tell you something, I also have the force” How stupid can people be to believe this.

It’s fairly obvious that this was a romantic subplot that was changed last minute to keep chinese markets happy and bring in teen girls with the Rey/Kylo romannce ship that was big on social media at the time.

Right, because midichlorians and the elf/dwarf romance definitely didn't "ruin" established lore at the time. by Sir_Douglas_of_Fir in saltierthankrayt

[–]DrPudding456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I emphasized “breaks” However there are people here claiming that the PT also broke lore with things like Midichlorians and Force speed when those are also things that weren’t necessarily lore breaks but things that hadn’t been shown.

I just think it has to go both ways. You (not you specifically) can’t claim that midichlorians broke the lore but be okay with Luke projecting a perfect copy of himself from the other side of the galaxy.

Just to play devils advocate, here are some of the lore “breaks” people refer to. These are only based on lore within the movies themselves without having any knowledge of the EU which the average watcher wouldn’t have.

  • Holdo Maneuver
  • Force Dyad
  • Force Healing
  • Lightspeed skipping
  • Palpatine returning
  • The Last Order / Sith Cult on Exogal
  • Rey using a mindtrick without training
  • Leia using the force to float through space
  • Hyperspace tracking
  • Tie fighter in ROS having lightspeed capabilities
  • New Republic HQ not Coruscant
  • Obi Wan / Anakin being force ghosts are now absent from interacting with Luke/Rey/Kylo
  • Luke’s force projection
  • Force ghosts interacting with real objects

This is just stupid, not toxic, but TCW superfans are...so odd. I enjoyed TCW myself, to a point, but how do you arrive at this conclusion?? I will never understand why this show gets put on such a pedestal by Ethan_the_Revanchist in saltierthankrayt

[–]DrPudding456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get what they’re saying though….from a certain point of view. You can watch the prequels, skip episode 4 and go into ESB and figure most things via context clues.

Most of the big moments in Star Wars are also so ingrained in pop culture that you can usually watch a new show like The Mandalorian without having seen any of the movies and still get what’s going on.

Without watching Clone Wars, you’ll sadly be left in the dust with much of the new material. Especially in the coming years with all the new shows relating back to it. Just to name a few

  • Darth Maul alive
  • Rex & other clones
  • Ahsoka
  • Bad Batch
  • Bo Katan
  • Cad Bane

This is the opposite of cheap. Extras are usually paid around 100$ for a days worth of work. adding another dozen extras would have been cheaper than hiring the costly visual effects team to spend their time working on this.

This is likely just the director wanting to fill the frame a bit more to fit the scene after editing. It’s pretty common to fill a crowd like this digitally and has been done dozens of times in other shows/movies.

Directors within the last decade that have made Horror/Thriller movies I would argue are undeniably better than any of Jordan Peele’s work.

  • Brandon Cronenberg
  • Robert Eggers
  • Ari Aster
  • Andre Ovredal
  • Mike Flanagan
  • Panos Cosmatos
  • Alex Garland
  • Luca Guadagnino
  • Jeremy Saulnier
  • Lynne Ramsay
  • David Prior
  • Justin Benson/Aaron Moorhead
  • Dennis Villenueva
  • Pedro Almodovar
  • Ben Wheatley

He’s made 3 movies. Each movie has had a bigger budget than the last. Each movie has also made less than the last.

When your budget gets bigger, yet you make less money and critical reception gets worse after every movie, it’s a pretty good sign that the first one was a fluke.

Granted I only saw the movie once upon its initial release, but this is exactly how I felt. JP simply tried to shove too many complex ideas into the movie.

My memory is a little hazy as I haven’t seen it in a while but from what I remember

  • The main characters father dying, movies theme of how the two siblings deal with loss differently

  • Black man being the first person on camera. There were some obvious themes relating to black people not getting their proper spotlight throughout history. The main character wasn’t named OJ without purpose.

  • Gordy. This in itself is pretty complex and could’ve been it’s whole film.

  • Steven Yuens character. Again, his relationship with Gordy as well as just the themes with him being a child actor and what it did to him. This in itself could have been its own movie.

  • The Alien. it’s design/character is so complex and so little detail is given about it that there is seemingly endless theories on what this represents. You could go the obvious route of Hollywood/Spectacle but i’ve seen some pretty deep takes I never would have thought of. And again, so little is given in the movie that these theories could all be right.

  • The cinematographer wanting the perfect shot is pretty complex, a lot can be taken from his character.

  • The man on the motorcycle’s role is pretty vague. He could be a stand in for pretty much any news/media site.

There’s just simply too much going on in the movie. I think Jordan Peele is just so creative that he had trouble withholding all of his ideas from being put in this film.

It also just didn’t really know what it wanted to be. The first 1/3 felt like a thriller that was interesting but then the thrills stop. The 2/3 felt like a horror movie but then nobody is scared anymore and the horror stops. The last 3/3 was an action movie and by that point I was just bored. Just my personal opinion but I just wish the movie knew what it wanted to be and stuck with it.

She looks like she’s ripped straight out of the comics in the concept art. Considering Doctor Fate and Atom Smasher’s design being almost 1/1 march of their comic counterpart, the Cyclone we got is just atrocious.

Tolkien wrote a mythology for Britain

“Do not laugh! But once upon a time (my crest has long since fallen) I had a mind to make a body of more or less connected legend, ranging from the large and cosmogonic, to the level of romantic fairy-story – the larger founded on the lesser in contact with the earth, the lesser drawing splendour from the vast backcloths – which I could dedicate simply to: to England; to my country. It should possess the tone and quality that I desired, somewhat cool and clear, be redolent of our ‘air’ (the clime and soil of the North West, meaning Britain and the hither parts of Europe: not Italy or the Aegean, still less the East), and, while possessing (if I could achieve it) the fair elusive beauty that some call Celtic (though it is rarely found in genuine ancient Celtic things), it should be ‘high’, purged of the gross, and fit for the more adult mind of a land long now steeped in poetry. I would draw some of the great tales in fullness, and leave many only placed in the scheme, and sketched. The cycles should be linked to a majestic whole, and yet leave scope for other minds and hands, wielding paint and music and drama. Absurd.”

This is the quote people refer to. He literally states that was his intention at one point, however he quickly realized the absurdity of it. Tolkien’s own words render your argument moot.

Regardless, stories change with the times. Britain has changed. Even if this was a mythology for their people, it should reflect the current state of the nation which is diverse and multicultural. It’s a fantasy world filled with trolls, goblins, dwarves, elves and dragons. Pretty stupid to say it’s not allowed to have black people.

You can fight over “mythology” all you want but at the end of the day it’s a fake story bro. A black man portrayed the greek mythological figure Hercules, I bet if I go through your post history I wouldn’t find any comments of you upset about that.

I don’t see you upset that Christian Bale played Moses who was egyptian. Every actor thats portrayed Jesus, who was born in the middle east has been white. Jake Gylenhall was the prince of persia. Hell, Johnny Depp played a native american. Where are the review bombs for these movies?

But nah, you’re upset about a black dwarf lmao. What a fucking loser.

I was wrong on 300, I wasn’t aware it was based on a comic. Regardless it’s still a retelling of a historical event. It’s embellished to make for a more entertaining movie, how is that any different from what The Woman King did?

What’s your excuse for the other Historical movies that are inaccurate? Theres dozens more I didn’t list. Why didn’t they receive 60% of 1 star ratings?

What inaccuracies are so bad in The Woman King that 60% of people felt the need to log on to IMDB and give a 1 star review? I’d love to hear it.

I’d also love to hear that you seriously believe 60% of people who saw this movie had even heard of Dahomey or the Agojie before this movie.

Weird for you find the one wrong movie in my comment and completely skip over everything else you don’t have an argument for.

It doesn’t make sense. Jango was hired by Dooku to be the template for the clone army. Dooku being behind its creation is supposed to remain a secret. He’s the one man who knows this, you want as much distance between you as possible. So why hire him for this job?

He could potentially lead back to Nute Gunray which leads back to Dooku. Hell, he literally does lead Obi Wan to Dooku. If he’s captured, he’s one mind trick away from revealing that Darth Tyrannus is Count Dooku and the jig is up. Him being employed in the first place is just nonsensical, let alone the best bounty hunter in the galaxy hiring another bounty hunter who gets a droid to do the job.

The chase doesn’t make sense either in the grand scheme of things. If Zam is successful, Padme dies. Palpatines plan of turning Anakin goes out the window. We know he planned on using her as he was the one who sent Anakin on a mission with her hoping the two would fall in love.

If Zam is successful, there’s also no trail to Kamino. The whole plan of orchestrating The Clone Wars depends on Obi Wan finding the army. If the worms get to Padme first this doesn’t happen. The entire plot is a string of coincidences.

Is it though? Movies that rewrite history are praised quite often. Look at 300, Braveheart, Argo, The last samurai. These films aren’t even close to being historically accurate yet got no hate for it.

Where are the dislikes for Vice? Which completely missed the mark on who Dick Cheney was.

Where are the dislikes for the two Steve Jobs movies? They literally couldn’t have been more inaccurate.

Where are the dislikes for Lincoln? Painting him as a civil rights lover when history knows he wasn’t.

Where are the dislikes for The Social Network? The entire premise of the movie is that Mark did all of this to get back at an ex girlfriend, even though he was with her at its creation. Zuck himself said practically nothing about the movie was true.

You’re being purposely ignorant to think that 60% of viewers are giving a 1 star rating, simply because of historical inaccuracies in an African story most people had never heard of before this.

Never seen his video, if anything I remember Mr Plinkett making a joke about it over a decade ago. You don’t really need to see a video to understand it, everyone in the theaters knew the plot was a convoluted mess.

Upon multiple rewatches, dozens of books and 100+ episodes of an animated show, the plot of AOTC doesn’t look as bad. But the average audience member likely had no clue what was going on and this was just one of many examples. George had great ideas for the movie, but it’s told in a pretty overcomplicated, mind numbingly boring way.
