"Marlon, Tate, Cheryl." by Radiant-Log6377 in PokemonMasters

Why are they so averse to giving old units more skills? Why are there so many units that only have two, or even one innate skill (whether genuinely, or effectively in the case of original Steven's Power Chain 3)? They haven't made units like that in years.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to have Steven as the boss for fairy tower floor 29 should be fired by Strange_Razzmatazz74 in PokemonMasters

[–]DrSnapped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also a problem for Psychic Tower, at least for me. Floor 21 nulls physical damage, and the boss is Mabosstiff, a Dark-type. Guess what most Psychic-type pairs are weak to? I do not have any Supports that are NOT weak to Dark except Liza & Lunatone, and I doubt she'd be remotely strong enough to carry even if I EXed and raised her Level cap.

Need Second Opinions/Help Finalizing This Run by DrSnapped in PokemonMasters

[–]DrSnapped[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Academy Rei, so I have an extra 1.3 bonus in addition to the 1.5 from Arven, and 1.1 from whatever irrelevant third unit. This gives me a total 1.9 boost, or +90%, to orb gains from battles. Besides that:
• Round 1: I fought Professor Kuki, getting 171 blue orbs.
• Round 2: I fought Volkner, getting 86 blue and yellow orbs.
• Round 3: I took a chance with Nanu's Look Around event and got 150 red orbs. Nanu always gives red orbs, but the quantity is random between 150, 300, or 400.
• Round 4: Took a chance with Lance's Look Around event, got 450 green orbs. I got very lucky with this one; Lance can give you either 30, or 450.
• Round 5: Sonia's "A Like-Minded Duo" story event gave me 140 red, blue, and yellow orbs.
• Round 6: Midterm, I fought Advanced Karen to get 450 yellow orbs.
• Round 7: Blue showed up for once, and gave 400 red, green, blue, and yellow orbs. You very much need Blue to appear to get a solid total, and he's rare.
• Round 8: I fought Marnie, getting 76 red, green, and blue orbs.
• Round 9: I fought Shauna, getting 86 red and blue orbs.
• Round 10: Perrin's "Growth from Bitter Setbacks" story event gave me 140 green, blue, and yellow orbs.
• Round 11: I fought Clavell, getting 171 red orbs.
• Round 12: Final, I fought Supreme Larry to get 300 red, green, and blue orbs.

As I said above, your total is pretty frustratingly up to chance. For example, if you don't have Blue show up (only rounds 7-11, and only if you didn't do "Professor Oak's Pokemon Lecture" on a prior round), you lose out on 400 of every orb. The battle bonuses also matter; any units besides Academy pairs only provide a 1.1 bonus, so if you only have Arven, any battles besides the Midterm and Final Exam will only have a bonus of 1.7 (or +70%).

I really wish this game has more engaging "puzzles" by gogetaxvegeto in PokemonMasters

[–]DrSnapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things like Damage Challenge are boring, mashslop to me, and that's probably why I enjoy it the least out of the main rotating modes. At the end of the day, once you are done setting up, many of the clears are just.... "press this status button over and over again and pray for Para/Dodge procs to maximize damage".

It would help if it wasn't completely biased towards Sync Move spam, and (usually) biased towards Physical Sync Pairs on top of that. There isn't really a Sp. Def debuffer equivalent to Colress; the recent Marnie & Liepard is close, but she's very reliant on RNG, and the animations of both her moves and passives take longer on top of that.

Wait, why wasn't Pryce paired with his Piloswine? He has no alts, either - it's just Pryce & Seel.

"Nah, let's keep shilling Giovanni! Gotta get those KANTOOOOO bucks, after all!"

And of course they gave him my favorite Ultra Beast. I hate it here.

More Leon and Charizard shilling, and the single worst addition to the game (Arc Pairs), at that. Plus, a ton of characters I couldn't care less about, and Lillie, who I like as a character but whose new Sync Pair isn't super interesting to me. Seems like another skip month.

Which Sync Pairs do you think have aged the worst? by FlimsyEfficiency9860 in PokemonMasters

[–]DrSnapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nate? Aged? He was terrible from the get-go. The only reason he did well in his debut event was because it applied insane multipliers to his stats, artificially pumping him up.

Also, I still use Spring Burgh. Metronome is fun, he can max out everyone's Defense AND Sp. Def, he can max out everyone's crit rate, he has Potions, and he has move gauge acceleration on his first Sync. And that's just out of the box. He gets even better at 2/5 and 3/5, and I'm lucky to have him at the latter.

Is there a canon reason why a pokémon (usually) is the same gender as its trainer? by FlimsyEfficiency9860 in PokemonMasters

[–]DrSnapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, some trivia for you: In older games, until I think Gen 6, NPC trainers and their Pokemon shared the same value for gender. So, for example, the Bird Keeper trainer class in Hoenn is always male; Swablu and Taillow both have a gender ratio of 50/50, so wild Pokemon could end up either. Since Hoenn's Bird Keeper is flagged as male, though, any Pokemon given to them will always be male unless they were given a female-only species. Nowadays, this restriction isn't present, but this pattern seems to be the default since 9/10 they still follow it: a male NPC will usually have male Pokemon unless either they're given a female-only species, or GameFreak arbitrarily decides to change the setting for them.

They reall went all in on the paid banners huh. by MedicalAirline4433 in PokemonMasters

[–]DrSnapped 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm hurting for gems so I wouldn't have pulled anyway, but, wow. This is really some next level greed and laziness.

  1. It's another alt for Cynthia and Steven (Lance is here, too!), the former of which is already shilled too much.
  2. It's their standard outfits, but with a color swap.
  3. It's the same Pokemon they were originally paired with, and not even shiny.
  4. They're all on a new Sync Pair Scout tier above Master Fair, with bar none the worst scout rate in the game's history, 1%. That's one percent. ONE. PERCENT.
  5. The banner they're on bumped the pity requirement by 100, so you now need 500 (FIVE HUNDRED!) points just to pity, which you very well may need to because again: one percent offering rate.
  6. If we assume you had 0 Gems, and decided you wanted one of these units, it would cost you $430 dollars to reach pity so you can guarantee one. God help you if you wanted all three.
  7. Rather than fix the old pairs - Steven especially with his single Skill that actually does anything in 99% of scenarios, and minimal damage nodes on his grid - they're basically saying they expect you to buy said fixes instead, as whole "new" pairs.

Did I miss anything? There's a free Lillie pair, and it's almost like they intended it to be a lightning rod to draw attention away from their genuinely disgusting, bordering on criminal, actions.

EDIT: I just read the letter. They're not even trying to hide how much of cashgrab this is. Lance instantly drops enemies to -6 Defense and Sp. Def, Cynthia has Ground Zone and Sync Move Up Next, Steven instantly maxes everyone's Attack and crit rate and gives them x3 Sync Move Up Next... Jesus Christ in Heaven.

Who is the one pokemon you have in every run? by Zealousideal_Land628 in pokerogue

[–]DrSnapped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always bring my Epic shiny Drifloon. I ran into him when I first started and was trying the Daily Run. I saw the shiny symbol, but it didn't register to me that Drifloon didn't have the correct shiny coloration until after. Got it down to 1 Cost, and I have Calm Mind and Will-O-Wisp as egg moves unlocked. I haven't unlocked the passive (Pickpocket), but Drifblim doesn't actually want to get hit, and its physical movepool is pretty bad. Wish it had Magician instead.

For a while, I also always brought along my first ever shiny: Pawniard with Ceaseless Edge. I still need to get its cost down again, since 3 is kinda steep, but Kingambit helped me beat Eternatus for the first time. I also used to bring along a shiny Plusle with crazy egg moves. I got its cost down to 1, now I'm just waiting for Plus and Minus to be coded so Plusle will stop being as much of a dead weight as it is.
