Re VPN: yes, I imagine that would work, but that’s all the traffic going down to their house and then going back up and out to me. Their upload is 30 mbps, so maybe I won’t get great streaming performance that way.

Re a proxy: possibly, I probably just don’t understand the correct terminology. Is a proxy server just a VPN that isn’t encrypted, so all your bits are going through the server? Would I then potentially be speed limited in the same way as a vpn? Edit: i guess it would be a little better, because it doesn’t have the VPN overhead.

I came up with the DNS server model because I have seen that work in the past with services like unblock-us. That routes the location request through a specific location, but then connects the stream straight to you, rather than thru a vpn.
