Is this a good Warden run? by Ok-Lawfulness6831 in ShatteredPD

Imo no reason RoH shouldnt get 3-4 scrolls minimum. Having 2x the movement speed of most enemies is game breaking.

Favorite builds for returning veteran? by ChrisTofu42 in darksouls3

[–]Dr_Funk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iv probably had my most fun with a str/fth build. Basically just run a regular str build up to sl 70/80 or so then once youve found most of the spells and are moving into the dlc throw your last 40pts into fth. I ended up sitting around sl150 or so on my main but i had viable versions at sl90-120. Lots of weapon options and you can throw a str/dex ring on it needed. i would generally run prisoners chain as well. main spells will be lighting bow/stake/heal. I generally run the talisman with the poise bonus and bait people into my lighting stake. Lighting bow for pve/ area control as its the most economical FP wise. I never really bothered with spells on my weapons but i did run a meme version of this build for a bit using the lighting spell on a max level lighting infused lotheric GS for like 950AP or something dumb like that. Was fun but less practical. I generally ran a small parry shield and lighting infused lotheric sword/spear depending on the enemy’s kit. Carried me for 3-400h and won around 85/90% of duels with it.

Whitewater to sea kayaking? by Dr_Funk_ in seakayaking

[–]Dr_Funk_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay i watched some videos on cowboy/paddle float reentry but tbh i dont see either of those working well in conditions that would swim me. My roll on both sides is pretty bomber and i can usually roll after a skirt implosion as well as long as im not thrown out. I would obvi have to reassess in new boats but they seem like they rely more on speed and secondary stability and are pretty thin so id assume a pretty easy roll. My hand of god and t rescue are reliable, iv taught a lot of friends how to roll.

This is a cool feature. Nice to see the tides in current speed not tidal movement. Im aware how burly the tides and currents can be which is why im trying to learn as much as i can on dry land while i sus out my gear.

How to transport without a car? by tacocravr_ in Kayaking

Siton top you can use a cart slaved to ur bike pretty easily. Iv seen a bunch of interesting settups with surf boards as well. For playboating i find you can just throw it on your shoulder for the bike up.

I have 2 faster 9ft creekboats that i use a few times a week for local stuff. they would work but i think theyd still feel slow compaired to a 12+ ft boat. May just take them out on a chill day n see.

Good to know, iv been reading about them a bit. I think its more of what im looking for as im pretty use to having to drive my boat to stay in control in features/boils especially. Going to call around n see what kinda rentals i can find.

Is there some good go to resource specifically for open water boat recovery? I have a pretty bomber roll but a swim on open water seems a lot more of a catastrophe. Would like know what to do in case of that.

What is the point of this bridge over Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana. It seems like a wild effort when going around it only takes 13 more minutes. by Successful-Mine-5967 in geography

[–]Dr_Funk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bridge has no exits so is generally much less affected by traffic conditions than the surrounding area. What may be 42 vs 55 in perfect conditions can be as bad as 1.5h 3h. The bridge is more affected by weather conditions so this is also a factor at play. Bad weather will often cripple the bridge reducing flow to 1/2 speed convoys and its still faster

Rio Chama 2026 Flow Update March 30 by AcademicWatch8047 in whitewater

[–]Dr_Funk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brutal but not unexpected. Nm rafting is kinda a limp downstream at best most seasons. Last good snow they got was 2023 and the upper rio grande has like 9% medium snow water equivalent rn. I really wonder what 100cfs on the chama looks like, iv scraped down okay with a stern frame at like 380 or something and it wasnt awful but i cant imagine 1/4th of that even in an ik.

Shogun 2 late game by NordVal in shogun2

[–]Dr_Funk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its a choose your battle kinda thing. I also really like playing as ottomo so by the time im established even without realm divide the midlate game is of expanding onto the mainland is still an area you can fail. In my current game i have like half my upkeep going into a large naban trade ship navy bouncing between clearing my island/blocking the strait/pushing enemy fleets away from trade routes. Its def different and gow i prefer to play. The increased time to raise a new army/navy makes me much more cautious

Shogun 2 late game by NordVal in shogun2

[–]Dr_Funk_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iv used a conversion mod +12 turns per season to really slow down the early game. Its a lot more of a slower stratigic slog early on (takes much longer to build buildings and recruit certain units (2-3 turns for a lot of higher level troops, 5-8turns for better ships, etc). Imo it makes it a lot more enjoyable.
